Domain gurus, should I accept this offer on my domain?
 

I just got offered 600 Euro (about $729) for Hentai.co.uk. After Sedo fees, I'm left with 500 Euro (about $607). Should I take it?

A few years ago, I declined a 1200 Euro offer on it, but I was making a lot more then, didn't need the money and was planning on using it. I never did. I don't have any info on traffic. I had it parked at AfterNic, but evidently they aren't tracking it anymore. What do you think?

I'd say don't sell it for 500. I'm not a domain expert but domain value of decent domains is increasing a lot these days.

I'd say at least 2k.

If they want it, they will go up in price.

That is probably worth about 5k to the right person. Market it a little and see what happens.

Yeah, I haven't marketed it at all. Only have it up on Sedo. I really don't know how to market domains. lol

And I wouldn't just have a blank page atleast but up a couple of links to Hentai sites so you can make a buck or two off it.

I thought I was making click traffic at AfterNic, but someone somewhere dropped the ball...hence the blank page.

I cant remember the last time I typed in .co.uk I know on engish radio stations they promote that extention allot tho.

Not good for type-ins, but its still a good domain. If you want fast cash, sell it. If not, I'd offer the guy $2,000-$3,000, minimum.

Just monitor the stats (statcounter.com) & make a seo friendly freesite advertising some sponsors like.

i'd keep it, its a pretty solid name. if its making money and not requiring any work then you have the upper hand.

Way too low. I made $6500 on two separate 3 word dot coms yesterday that were no where near as brandable as that. Hold on if you can.

Probably, but I've had it for 6 years and this was the best offer I've gotten. I've sent the name to some domain gurus on this board, and they only seemed marginally impressed. Sure the domain could optimally get more, but what's the chances of me getting it? I'm tired of waiting and need the money, unfortunately.

I'm doing the same thing with a car I'm selling. I have a 516 HP '97 supercharged Saleen Mustang convertable, which I have about $60K into. Completely rebuilt motor with forged racing components. The kbb price is around $26K for a non-supercharged, non-built-up, 215HP stock version, but you need to find a specialized buyer for it, and I'm tired of waiting. I'll probably end up letting it go for well under $20K... Oh well. It's just costing me insurance money now...I rarely drive it.

You weight pros/cons and come up with the best solution you can. So be it.

Where do you find the buyers for your domains?

I would say it is a mix of people who have contacted us in the past, type-in domains, people looking for good brandable names and some referrals. We have some domains listed with sites like sedo & afternic but many of our high end sales come from names that are not live. So the people/companies inquiring go through whois which takes some basic effort and knowledge to reach us.

To be fair and to put it in perspective we do have a network of thousands of sites/domains so we are able to create a lot of leads with creative pages and linking.

I hope your sale was good for you. We have all been in situations where we needed to raise cash, believe me.... Good luck to you.

I understand. I just think you might have gotten double, triple, or more than you probably accepted for the name by just giving it 24 hours and saying you'll take the highest bidder.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't really want to know. But rather than risk losing a buyer, I'd rather go ahead and sell it and know I gave someone in our industry a good deal, and he in turn gave me a serious and reasonable offer...he didn't low-ball me...he did me right :)

There's always a higher potential on any sale, but you have to weigh your options. I kind of doubt I would have gotten a much better offer by waiting 24 hours, so then I'm stuck with holding onto it and hoping... For me, I think I made the right decision.

Out of curiosity, what do you think Innuendos.com is worth? That's another one I've held onto for a long time, but haven't sold...

IDN.ORG ... about 15 visitors per day (~450 per month) earning upto $8.90 per click; average is about $0.50 but varies widely from day to day. Offers over $2500 considered...

DormGirls.com ... Around 35 visitors per day (~1000 per month) = a brandable domain with traffic! $7750+ offers considered only. BIN Today $12K.

Beaten.com ... traffic basically nil, but brandable - and received a low x,xxx offer the other day ... single word domains, even when it's variation, are scarce; great development potential! Offers over $3500 seriously considered.

And finally, the best domain I have ... CANNABIS.COM ... ~8000 visitors per day (~250,000 per month) with ~4500 to the homepage alone. Grossed ~$100K in 2005; profitable! Serious inquiries only ... only offers over $700K considered ... BIN $1250K, but willing to let it go for much less to a motivated buyer ... quality generic that has much value in and of itself, lots of very targeted traffic; cannabis.com is in a market with few competitors = much room for growth!
