member gets 401 error and NO login box [pls help]
ok been mailing with a member who signed up for strawberrysandy. He cant get it, checked pwize and other stats he never entered. Says he gets a 401 and no login box. Tried another site, tried another server, all the same.
Hes on AOL and in the UK. Used IMLIVE but theyve got another system he says, and other non ccbill prgs. Any idea what causes the l/p not be there? Thanks! :2 cents: |
He SAYS no login box....What if you advice him to install firefox, and open only ONE browser, and try again....Maybe he was loaded with screens, and never saw it....
|
yeah he uses IE only already thought bout that
can a popup blocker block the l/p box too? |

yeah told him to clear
so whys PW a joke? Weve been using it for ages but tell me :) |
As far as I know the 401 error should trigger a login box... the msg you see if you fail (say) 3 times is actually returned each time; the browser only displays it after 3 failed attempts.
Maybe some internal variable is fubar and it thinks you've already tried 3 times |
Sounds like an error in the formating of error statements in the .htaccess file.
|
i'm using the new ie7 beta and it wont popup login boxes for anything , its like they removed it
|
Did you check Pennywize stats to see if his IP or username was blocked for some reason? I'm betting Pennywize is sending him the 401.
Switch to Strongbox. |

Lol that is fucked up |
Have him try this list
This is either a cache issue or a security settings issue. If it is a cache issue is it is unusually from entering a incorrect login and password a few times. If you have Netscape close all browser windows and try again. If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer you will need to reboot your computer. If it is a security issue with IE Go to the menu line on the top of your browser select tools select Internet options select the security tag be sure you have Internet zone set to medium, low or custom but not High security If you are custom click on the button on the bottom that says "Custom Level" Scroll to the bottom of the list and check to be sure login is set to either "Automatic login only in Intranet Zone" or "Prompt for user name and password" |
