NYC Office Space
hi all. I'm looking to share some office space in Manhattan or the surrounding area... I only need 3-4 hrs per week and a place to receive mail. Anyone working in NY have anything available?
|
why would you need an office if its just for 3-4 hours a week?
|
To set up a business address, which is not uncommon when someone does most of their work out of their home. I would never want to list my home address on my site.
|
ever think of a po box they work really well and its cheaper then paying rent
|
I have a Mailboxes address but that's not what I need... I need a real space I can do work a few hours per week.
|
and price range =?
|
That's a good question... of course I'd like to keep my costs low. Do you have a space available?
We could chat on ICQ... 116038101 |
im baffled at how you would need space for 2-4 hours a week, hell i work 2-3 hours an hour... ( yes i said 2-3 hours an hour )
and 90+ hours a week and no i dont have space, was just wondering how on earth you work 3-4 hours a week |
I'm not saying I work only 3-4 hours per week... more like 75... but I work FROM HOME... I only need an office for 3-4 hours per week.

Hey Nina, There are a number of shared office spaces on 5th ave Park or Madison ave in midtown. Your best bet would be to look in the Village Voice ads for Commercial space for rent. Also check the Times tommorrow. Thats what I did a few years ago when I was searching for my first office.
A freind of mine used to rent a very nice space on 39th and Park with the receptionist and all the usual business necessities like copiers, conference rooms, coffeemakers etc for $900. You should be able to find something starting at $300 though. Good luck |
damn nyc is expensive as fuck, you can get an apartment cheaper around here than you can a parking space in manhattan
|
NY and London are 2 cities that make no sense when it comes to parking! To park in Manhattan it costs around $41 a day. Rent for a decent 1 bedroom (750 sq. feet) starts at $2000 a month. Even a couple of miles away over here in Brooklyn a good 1 bedroom starts at $1,400.
But who can beat being able to walk to a restaurant at 4 am and still get an OK dinner (OK-meaning not Denny's style!) I can't forget to add being able to hit the Clubs until 11am, I can't even remember if there's a certain time to stop serving liquor since I've never had to stop ordering until I leave! Great place for living, definitely not for saving! |

And thanks for the advice. I have been researching those virtual office spaces, I check out a few on Monday. But I thought it might be nice to share a space with someone else in the adult business. I'm sure I'll find something eventually. |
god damn, if i move to ny this summer i'll have to live in a shoebox or something.
i pay like 250 canadian a month, which is half the rent for a decent 2 bedroom. |
We used to have (prob still do) palces here that had banks of desks, and all the normal office gear too. They were set up on the 'package' system for people needing office space for abit each week. Alot of traveling salesman used them and they had commercials on to the point of stupid on TV. Back then there were no laptops etc.
But I know some of them claimed to be all over the nation. Maybe one of the city offices could hook you up with where they might be if they still exist. Small business comission etc. They did the packages by what you needed as far as the equipment usages, hours in the office, phones costs (LD etc) and even had the ability to use a receptionist for taking calls while you were away. (If I remember right you could even pay for a private line that the recep would answer with your co name) Might be worth checking into. :) |
Nina I have 2 solutions for you.
I have an office addy you can use which is a wall St. addy. I also have a room in my apt downtown which I use as an office for a new project I am working on. I would be happy to let you use a desk and a puter. I have a PC on one and a Mac on the other desk. Let me know the space is on John st. Spankstrocko |
The wall St. Spot has secretary answering the phones too.

I will look into it. |
Hey Nina, I just thought about this...
You might want to call a guy named Ryan @ Cogent here in NY. He knows a lot of the adult webmasters with offices in the Tri State. He also knows of all the buildings which are Cogent capable that might offer a little space, it should be easy for you to get a cubicle from someone. You never know, you might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone. ICQ me if you want his #. 152970595 He is cool and will help you even if you don't want to buy some Cogent B/W. |
We pay $300 a month for 1,500 sq ft studio. heating electricity included. Plus there are loads of pretty girls here willing to work for $200 a day, nude and rude.
Oh yes, we are in the Czech Republic and it closes 5.00 pm friday and does not open till Monday morning, the country not the stuudio.:thumbsup |
Cool idea. :thumbsup

PORNWOLF IS RIGHT..
Expensive but a nice city.. |
Fuck NY is the worst damn place to rent anything -- they want your god damned life history -- they wanted like 3 years past tax forms, birth certificate, yadda yadda... man it sucks... not to mention half the rental ads in the newspaper are just scams used to sell you bogus apartment lists... I lived there 2 weeks then got mugged in manhattan -- me: back to Florida ;) If I had unlimited amounts of money though I sure would love to move back there for a little while...
In Florida (no state fucking income tax) last I looked there was an office space (in a college town) for $135-$220 (depending on size) you got a nice office in this sweet geologists pad -- the shit was all wood w/ nice furniture, huge kitchen, fridge, fax machines, all the shit, batchroom on each floor... a hooters across the street, several nice resturants, two coffee shops, banks, etc. all within walking distance... not to mention parking w/ an electronic gate and the whole place was on a T1... so nice I almost wanted to move in ;) As for $41/day parking in NY... are you sure? Shit I'm pretty sure I saw parking garages that were cheaper paying per month... |

You say you didn't like it here? Some people don't. You are telling the truth, renting an apartment is a nightmare! Even finding a decent one here takes several months unless you get lucky. But I ask you this, can you start your night on the town at 1am on a Monday and still go to restaurants, bars and a nightclub? I love Florida but I don't think you can unless you are on South Beach, then maybe you have 1 or 2 places to go. And where else can you wear your GFY t-shirt downtown and not get a stare or a disgusted response when you tell someone you are an adult webmaster. I think you summed it up pretty well when you said... Quote:
