Why do UK people say: "we go to Europe"
 

I hear this very often.

UK has never been a part of this stinking Europe. We are independent and we do not care of who live on the other side of English channel :321GFY

i am in USA now and people keep calling me a european or saying I'm from europe I really don't see it that way and nor do the french, germans or anyone else I am pretty sure!

lol I have this joking and lovingly had argument with my friends all the time.

They mean mainland Europe but they are also making a point of trying to seperate themselves from the political body of Europe rather than geography.

Quite simply its because we try to be geographically correct. If you look at the wording of your question you may just see that at no point does it imply we arent part of Europe.

BTW I never hear that term, although its probably easier than reeling off a list of individual countries.

when they move here they state EU to take advantage of the tax deductions, if they were patriotic they would complaint on that lol

You are probably confused because what Brits do say is "we are travelling across Europe" which simply means they are doing just that (country to country crossing borders with no need to take to the waters).
