The brush work is reminiscent of a BYZANTINE mosaic painting. Reference: Justinian. Great technique. Awesome! :thumbsup

My wife is a classically trained artist. In Japan there is a kind of system of apprenticeship as there was among artists of times gone by, and my wife studied/apprenticed under some of the premier Japanese artists.

Most of her work in America has been corporate art - and as I noted previously, you all have seen it, however I am not at liberty to disclose it.

She won't touch my adult work - if only she would...nonethless, she inspires me (a non-artist) to strive to be better all of the time.

Since most of her work is commerical design corporate artwork (package design, etc), she rarely exhibits her fine art anymore (although our house is filled with it).

Thank you...I retired from the corporate world about six years ago, and helped my wife establish an independent graphic design business (until that time she was a Senior Designer for big Silicon Valley high-tech companies).

I am hoping this year to raise my earnings to the point where my wife can retire and focus once again upon her fine art. We don't have children, so I consider her art as well as our financial bequeaths to be our legacy.

Lots of BS spilled upon GFY, but no shit, when I was at SJSU (San Jose State) in the early 80's, we brought a band in for a free noon concert - a little band out of Ireland, called U2.

The opening band (which probably had more fans in attendance) was Romeo Void ("Never Say Never" was their one big hit).

U2 had just released their first album:

I was so impressed...I have seen the band evolve and witnessed them live over ten times since then. Of course they are now legendary, although "War" was most likely their big break-through album.

When my wife created her art piece from the "War" album, I was literally driven to tears, especially since I understood the thought that went into it.

I confess to being a sensitive peacenik...

I'm sure your schedule will be as busy as mine, but I really hope to meet up with you at some point in Sin City...we have each other's numbers, so let's do it!!!

That is kind of the idea. He is supposed to look innocent, scared, angry, defiant, etc. War has an impact on us all, especially the children. The green one is supposed to reflect a nuclear explosion in the distant background.

New Years Day has been very popular song during New Years Eve when in fact the song is has a different and more profound meaning. It talked about the political unrest in Ireland back in the 80s
