How Do You Celebrate New Years...Akimashite Omedatto Gozai-masu!!!
New Year's is a big deal in Japan. Most businesses are closed.
In the days leading up to New Year's, my wife is crazy busy making sure everything is clean, all the bills are paid, and any outstanding tasks are resolved. Finally there comes the food. Usually we have toshikoshi soba (buckwheat noodle soup), which goes nicely with champagne btw...then on New Year's Day an elaborate meal featuring lots of food that I only eat at New Year's time is served (although my wife usually adds some sushi to appease me). This food is called Osechi (it goes quite good with football). Here are pix from our Osechi last year... http://www.asiandivagirls.com/gfy/new-years-food.jpg Close up of Osechi: http://www.asiandivagirls.com/gfy/new-years-osechi.jpg Akimashite Omedatto Gozai-masu!!!
