Do you have a life?

Good question huh? But seriously do you? How much time do you spend in front of that screen and talk to people "on-line"? What happened to going out to meet people and socializing with "real tangible people" I think people develop this "comfort" zone. Anyway just a thought that crossed my mind tonight (while chatting on ICQ...lol) :winkwink:

Yeah ok....Time to go to bed....lol

Spunky 12-30-2005 10:40 PM

Girlfriends tend to remind you :Oh crap

BigCashCrew 12-30-2005 10:44 PM

Yes, Girlfriends do tend to remind you how much time you spend in front of this thing. LOL I personally don't care. I make good money doing this. I can retire early one day so it's worth it. However, I have found myself feel socially inept since I've been working online. I need to get out more and talk to real people. damn internet is making it difficult for me to talk to people face to face. LOL

Even away from the pc I have no real life.. Personally, I'm ok with that.

theking 12-30-2005 11:05 PM

Hmm...I live with mind numbing pain 24/7.

I do not date at all and have not for a couple of years.

I quit engaging in sex since I do not any longer date. Because sex is more painful than pleasure for me.

I do not go to clubs. I have zero interest in meeting new people.

I do not go to theaters. I cannot sit through an entire movie as it is to painful for me.

I do not go out for dinner (unless I am traveling).

I seldom travel anymore because it is to painful for me.

I have lived in my current AO for more than two years and I do not know the name of a single person. I only socialize with old friends and do not care to acquire any new ones.

I live alone with my two dogs (one of my brothers is temporarily living with me).

What do I do...well...I occasionally go fishing/camping and take my dogs for walks on the beach. I also kill time dabbling in websites and occasionally posting to this board.

Hmm...do I have a life?

Life........

Well when I'm done working at like 3 in the morining I start writing my book and thats about life in a wierd way so nope. on the weekends I do. But thats about it if I'm not working I'm plaining to work. Or working on my pilots licence can't make a shit load of money with out some kind of a retirement plain. I want to have a cabin on a lake and be able to fly to it all the time and have a bigger place downtown Vancouver. So for now no life but I do dream of one and write about having one. :(

Sosa 12-30-2005 11:30 PM

I'm not working as much as I like. But I get bored easily on a project and have to take a little break and then come back fresh and keep working at it. I still get out a little bit though and enjoy that time.

fris 12-30-2005 11:34 PM

too much screen is bad for you ;) get away for at least 4-5 hours not counting your sleep time. ;)

Agnosticism 12-31-2005 12:29 AM

Life = Happiness

If you enjoy sitting in front of your screen 24-7 making money or try making money then you are living. These so called stereotypes of what really "life" is BS about going out to bars, meeting new people, getting drunk, etc etc. A lot of the activities that people assume that is living leave me with an empty feeling inside considering I could be doing other things. So if you are the type of person that enjoys sitting in front of the computer or the person that enjoying getting shitfaced at the bars, it is all relative. So whatever you like to do in life even though other people may not call it living but in the end it might make you happy. Cause when it comes down to it is all about happiness.

im pretty sure, other than the obvious reasons why a 50yo+ redneck who lives in a trailer doesnt date or have a life, that faking your own death on a chatboard and sticking to your guns even when everyone knows the reality, that would lead most to conclude you are seriously lacking a life.

I can't argue with this. Life and living means different things to everyone.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Love Sex 12-31-2005 06:12 AM

The question is are you happy with your life?
I only really talk to people online that i know offline.

As for my life someone will probally make a movie about it.

ezrydn 12-31-2005 07:00 AM

I normally spend about 3-5 hours online, off and on, throughout the day. Other than that, I play with my two cockatoos (take them to the park to get that yelling shit outta them and then to Starbucks where they love Whipped Cream and coffee (mocha). Then, as Baddog understands, there's a certain amount of KMs that must pass under one's Harley ass to remain the happy SOBs that we are. Then, maybe take in a movie, get together with friends at a local biker bar and design new shit for my new house that I've moved into (like fireplaces, top and bottom, to begin with!)

Do I sit here all day and pound my pud. Not likely. Have a hot hispanic wife that takes care of all of that. The jacuzzi was her idea and it definitely gets a workout. HAL/TASS, ever think of visiting Guadalajara? Only a plane tiicket away and we got room. You two have an open invitation. Just let me "explain" you to her before you arrive. LOL Mexican women are not the most open mided in the world.

Guadalajara is about 52kms north of the largest inland freshwater lake in Mexico so there's surely shit to do down there. Many times, i just "ride around the lake.' What a way to waste a beautiful day, stopping in all the pueblitos for a cool one in the plaza and meeting all the locals. A lot nicer people than I ever met "up there!"

I'm also an Amateur Extra Ham Radio Operator (KA5ECR) and love to chat around the world. Due to having airplane/helicopter CFI certs and Instromo, I do a bit of air transport down here, all above board, oil pipe observation, newlywed travels, that sort of shit. Have a good relationship with an owner/operator at the local Hildalgo airport. He just refers to me as that "Penche Gringo!" Hel's like my second dad.

So, what else? Have I stayed away from the tube long enough to suite you? I normally get up around 5:30/6am (a Nam tradition) and usually it's lights out around midnight. Oh, BTW, I just celebrated the third anniversary of my 20th birthday. Anyone think they can keep up wth me? I can still bag someone for 5-6 hours at a stretch. So, sorry, pud-pounding, before a screen of 10 year old pixs is not my idea of the perfect day.

Baddog, you gotta think of riding down sometime for a visit. Very, very easy to find (within a city of 7.5M. LOL These drivers would drive you crazy!!! I didn't drive for the first 6 months I lived here. Had to figure out the "how-to' part of it. LOL

I don't open this invite to just anyone. Baddog, Halcyon/tass, if you ever wanna really see Mexico as Americans don't, let me know. It'll only cost you a plane ticket, room and board supplied. When you hear the plane drop it's gear at Hildalgo, you've just passed over the house. We're about 20 minutes away and it'll take you that long to get outta the airport.

So, on GFY, Baddog, Halcyon and Tassy have an open invitation to visit Guadalajara, Capital of the State of Jalisco, 3 hours west of Puerto Vallarta and the Tequila Capitol of the World, by International Proclimation. Wait till I tiake you guys over to "Tequila." That's the distillery/bar/restaurant, tomb. LOL

I'll get some pixs put together if you're interested.

I don't talk to people online unless it's business. I go out as often as I can and get silly pissed drunk, does that count as having a life?

I am kinda unsure really. I think I work too much, but I am very inefficiant.

Violetta 12-31-2005 07:09 AM

I have a girlfriend, two offline jobs and a band. So I feel alive!

ezrydn 12-31-2005 07:18 AM

ER...guys....I'm actually 52KMs EAST of Puerto Vallarta!" West would put me in a particular problem. LOL

It all depends on what makes you happy. I'm a n3rd and perfectly content spending oodles of time at my computer(s). Napolean is the same way, so anything we do together is fun to me :)

Screaming 12-31-2005 08:37 AM

Nope. Not at all.

blackfeet 12-31-2005 09:43 AM

life for me began with the invention of the internet.

i do spend a lot of time at my computer but when i do go out,
i do it up big.

my neighbors hardly ever see me.

sickkittens 12-31-2005 09:48 AM

My friends are actually leaving for Montreal in an hour or so. 7 hour ride for them.

Wanna meet up tonight? :winkwink:

Rochard 12-31-2005 09:50 AM

I have a life.

I surely don't watch too much TV. Don't have time for such things.

I have my motorcycle, and I love to ride. I ride nearly daily (I live in Phoenix and I can ride year round here). I also have my Mustang, a 2004 Mach 1, and I'm rather active in a local Mustang club.

I also like doing home improvement, although I really suck at it.

I don't like "real people". People can go fuck themselves and are overrated. People piss me the fuck off. I'd rather be in front of the monitor than socialize with some assinine people.

I have ridden halfway down Baja, but I have yet to make it to mainland Mexico.

Of course, I have.

Unless you mean outside GFY, in that case the answer is no :Oh crap

that's an interesting perspective as I find that it could be debated on many different levels but I do understand where you're coming from....I like to think that I havea balance between the two worlds in most aspects but staring at the screen all day long almost makes me unsociable when I do go out and meet ppl...I find that many of the ppl I meet on the boards or online are "fake" or I doubt them in some small way b/c we can only see what they write as opposed to how/ what they are really doing in person...I hope that made some sense lol:winkwink:

BlackCrayon 02-13-2006 02:27 PM

yes and no. there have been times when i never did shit and just sat at home all the time on the computer or whatever and there have been times when i was out socializing in the real world every day. all depends on which i feel happier/more comfortable doing at the time. yeah, this job is a socially avoidant persons dream but it doesn't have to take over your life. since i've moved i've stopped socializing online besides business and the girlfriend forces me to be social on a semi regular basis. tho find a lot of the time that i have nothing to say and just don't feel i have anything in common with a lot of people.

LittleSassy 02-13-2006 02:37 PM

life..........now i even forgot what it means...staring at the pc for like 8 hours or so...go home, sleep, eat...work....i rarely go out.

Stallion 02-13-2006 02:39 PM

shermo 02-13-2006 03:40 PM

Yes I have a life.

My new Years resolution was to get out 2 days of the week without computer interaction, and so far I've lived up to it! I still hang out with friends, I do new activities each week (snowboarding, fishing, wakeboarding, etc). I must say that I'm a much happier person than when I was working 7 days a week, and my income is not hindered.

everestcash 02-13-2006 03:43 PM
