He has enough money it doesn't matter.

Good for him! If you earn it, you deserve it! :thumbsup :thumbsup

As Andy Rooney says:
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

*switch out Gates for Woods and switch out operating system for golf swing*

Moose 12-30-2005 04:00 PM

Its a drop in the bucket when you made 90 mil last year like he did.
And the dude is only 30, has alot of earning years left in him.

Lets see. How can I, a black man spend a lot of money and show off, and show how stupid I truly am? Buy a house for 40 million dollars, and tear it down. that will do the trick.

I don't think that Bill Gates invented the operating system, he just bought the company that had already developed it for about $50k (some call it the biggest blunder in business history for that little fledgling company). However, Gates did market it to the world so he does deserve all the money that has come from it. I'm not sure if Bill Gates has actually invented anything but you don't have to invent to be successful, as Tiger Woods shows us.

It really is nice though to see new money like this which really is an example of the American Dream.

Bah doesn't mater, I had heard he born in Germany, but lives in Switzerland now. So to me he would be from Switzerland. :) Personally, I had no idea who the guy was, I had never heard of him until I saw a TV show that talked about the highest paid athletes for this year. It could be that I don't watch Formula 1 racing.

I think Woods will end up being the highest paid athlete in history.

ArkansasDave 12-30-2005 04:47 PM

nice birthday present

Temp1 12-30-2005 05:05 PM

I've never played golf myself so this question is for all the golfers:

What makes one golfer consistently better than another? Why does tiger woods win more tournaments? In other words, the game doesn't seem to entail the superior athlete to be victorious like other sports that the stronger/faster/bigger/higher jumper/etc wins. It seems to have a certain degree of luck - although perhaps 'luck' isn't the correct word but my point is the golfers at that level are all professionals so why aren't the victories more evenly divided amongst the ones having a 'good day' ? How could tiger have a 'good day' more often than the others?

I hope that made sense.

Pornwolf 12-30-2005 05:21 PM

Very cool for him. He will never run out of money in that sport since he can easily play for another 30 to 40 years... AT THE SAME LEVEL!!!

His mother knew someone at IBM that let him make a sweet deal for putting the O/S on the machines whether they used it or not.

Doubtful as Mike Jordans Jumpman Clothing and Shoe Line nets him around 500 million or so a year. The net worth of it is somewhere in the 2-3 billion range I believe.

But then what would you do with the cash? Life is short, you should enjoy it while you can (if you can). :2 cents:

If you know anything about Jupiter Florida then you know that $40million wasn't just about a house, it's about the strip of oceanfront land it bought in one of America's most expensive zip codes.

Plus, he can afford it. The guy will make that money back twice a year every year for the next 30 years. That's not including interest and outside investments which should help him make even more.

I think a lot of people are pissed that this 30 year old 'Cablinasian' can do it and they can't. The hot Swedish wife was the first straw heh heh.

I'm kinda pissed but hell, I'm still shooting in the 80's on the golf course so I can't complain too loud! ;)

5000 Sq foot house, 40 Million Bucks.

A avid golfer and fan of most sports (my highschool basketball coach) once told me that golf is the most difficult sport to play because the skill level is so high. I don't know if I agree with that as it seems a bit unbelievable to me, but it is a game like the others where skill precedes luck. In order to have consistency over long periods of time, the person must play in a manner that's better than his opponents. Also, it does entail strength and Tiger is able to hit the ball long distances on the green, apparently. But I think it's more to do with precision taking into account the grade, wind, etc. and knowing when to use force or not to (when you're putting).

johnnyhey 12-30-2005 06:15 PM

but he's still with ibill :(

It's very little luck involved. Skill is the key word when it comes to golf. Knowing how much pressure to hit the ball with on an incline green with a hint of dew wetting the grass is not something most people know how to do. You don't have to be in great shape so it's not physical really (although 18 holes will tax your body for sure).
