"RIVERSIDE, Calif. Dec 29, 2005 ? Two 16-year-olds who were expelled from a Lutheran high school because they were suspected of being lesbians have sued the school for invasion of privacy and discrimination."

"Such a relationship violates our Christian Code of Conduct," Bork wrote in his letter, which was included as an exhibit in the lawsuit. He called the girls' behavior "scandalous" and "immoral."

Hanson said the 142-student school in Wildomar, Calif., must comply with state civil rights laws because it functions as a business by collecting tuition.

"There's a lot of hypocrisy going on here," Hanson said. "The school is claiming the girls were expelled because their conduct wasn't within the Christian code. But at the same time, (the school) has students who aren't Christians and are even Jewish."

This is a private school through right. Im not sure what type of rights they have over thier students, but expulsion based on sexulal oreintation cant be one of them.

No matter what the school does, they can't change people.

Tolerance and acceptance is something that they have to do in society, but they are too blinded by their own beliefs.

I would hope that most principles in that situation are smart enough to have their secretary' or door open so that something like that wouldnt happen. These days the teachers need a lawyer as much as students. yet, knowing the institutions the way they are today - it doesnt surprise me that they would take this stance. its okay for a church to accept a non christian or another religion into their midst, but as soon as you say the "L" word or gay then the walls go up and you might as well have burned a bible on their front door step.

They need to learn reading b4 they judge people; "On 8th day God created muffdiving".

If he is attempting to preach religious views are not that of the school, why then is he allowing other faiths to come in that do not hold to their beliefs? It clearly is a matter of harassment based on sexual orientation. Few remember that during the war not only were the Jews marked but also anyone thought of as gay with a star. You are aware that Disney did actively market The Chronicles of Narnia to the churches. They sent out press kits, spokesmen and so on. Very much relating the story to that of christianity. In an attempt to cash in on what hollywood refers to as the "passion dollars".

you have every right to say that - and my niece went to a private school. What is being asked is did these girls openly walk around all over themselves creating a scene or were they picked on simply because they happen to love one another? If the school was judging them concerning religious doctrine that they feel same sex relationships are wrong then they need to use that same zeal with other portions of the bible (in their eyes) and discriminate against other religions that don't agree with their doctrine. Which of course they aren't.

They are entitled to have a school with high morals and not allow someone in based on sexual orientation or religious believes but in fact they are throwing the "babes out with the bathwater" - choosing to follow one doctrine and ignoring the rest - why not clean house and remove everyone else that doesn't follow their beliefs?

Because it's the typical Christian code of conduct for being a christian in the first place means taking certain crap litterally and ignoring other crap from the same rule book.

I am not disagreeing with you.. I actually was in seminary for 7 years and a baptist preacher over 15 years ago and left due to the hypocracy. My philosophy is that God created man, later man decided to return the favor and made religion in his image. I am sure that many a sunday God puts his head in his hands and cries - knowing that the common man blames Him for what christians have created in their attempts to worship him.

At some point in time we need to accept the fact that people have different levels of morals and values, and some things that we enjoy daily or what not might be offensive to others - and even more so when your dealing with a church.

I read a lot of books about WWII and I'm still suprised to read how blacks were treated in the US Military in the 1940s. I think we should be ashamed at ourselves for such conduct, as well as for our conduct today. While I might have a difficult time picturing a gay US Marine, sexual preference has nothing to do with job performance.

Give it a another twenty years. The church will come around.
