Can anyone recommend a good video editing program?

8 Characters 12-29-2005 02:07 PM

Premiere

Redrob 12-29-2005 02:11 PM

Adobe Premiere 1.5 has the upgrade for doing HD.

HostGladiator 12-29-2005 02:11 PM

What are you planning on doing with it? Complicated stuff or just splitting/joining?
I use a bunch of different programs to get things done.

Spliting/joining, adding watermarks, credits and stuff like that

dad0n 12-29-2005 02:16 PM

AVID for the PC and Final Cut Pro for the MAC

BV 12-29-2005 02:25 PM

Sony Vegas Video with batch render pro plugin.
and www.boilsoft.com splitter

those 2 will take care about anything with an acceptable curve

Yngwie 12-29-2005 02:27 PM

If you have the money go with Avid Xpress Pro
http://www.avid.com/

Films like Lord Of The Rings used that

Yngwie 12-29-2005 02:28 PM

ok, so you just want simple.. ulead Media Studio Pro 8.. Has a few advanced things, but is also good for simple things

onlytease 12-29-2005 02:28 PM

if you are doing simple stuff pinacle studio is good, but if you want more control sony vegas is the one to go for

Yngwie 12-29-2005 02:29 PM

vegas studio is ok, but ulead media studio pro 8 to me is easier to use.

it does!? as a download?

Trixxxia 12-29-2005 02:58 PM

I personally like Ulead - VERY easy to use
Played with Sony Vegas a bit, but probably has way more features, didn't have the time to continue playing with it - but will cuz I'm sure it will teach me new things.
Still use TMPGenc for color correction cuz I find it easier hehehee h

There are also another 10-15 other programs on my computer for video editing - I guess it depends on my mood :)

So to make this less confusing - if you want simplicity with a good amount of funtion - Ulead
If you want a lot more bells and whistles and have the time to learn it Vegas or Premiere

Ulead????? Interesting....

3M TA3 12-29-2005 04:10 PM

Final Cut for Mac or Vegas for PC.

Don't buy Avid unless you like spending alot of money to get pissed off. Only thing Avid is good for is live broadcasts or job security.

yep and it already does hd has since version 4

NoWhErE 12-29-2005 04:25 PM

I'm an Adobe Premiere/After Effects user myself... I love how both programs compliment each other.

I personnally hate AVID and FCP is more or less Premiere with a different interface.

I don't even bother with other editing progs.

Unless you really wanna go Mainstream, then its Avid with Combustion, Inferno and a few other programs you'll probably never figure out how to use :)

Barefootsies 12-29-2005 05:00 PM

Adobe Premiere hands down.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Nilsy42 12-30-2005 04:46 AM

I agree totally

Ulead Media Studio Pro 8 is excellent, versatile and easy to learn!
Premiere is perfect for Rolling Texts etc at the end of a film.
Rolling texts, in colours etc, even over video etc.

I've never figured out how to do that in Ulead...

Stay clear of Pinnacle Studio!!! I fucked up my PC thanks to that shit! And it refused to get uninstalled too!

Surferdamian2000 12-30-2005 04:49 AM

Vegas, Adobe Premier.. both are great!
