Anyone know how to disable McAfee?
 

My daughter is trying to disable it so she can install Hijack This, but it keeps popping up and preventing it?

McAfee Enterprise installs 3 (!!!) services...

That would have been my suggestion as well.

In fact, every item in the startup list can be unchecked there. Every single one.

A lot of folks don't know that.

Well, as this was a few hours ago, and I was talking to her on one phone, talking to a new customer whose credit card would not go thru on another phone, tracking down a suspected fraudulent card (I did not trust it from the gate, but 2 more big servers within the hour kind of cinched it) and something else. It became one of those Clint Eastwood "Dirty Harry" things where in all the confusion I did not remember everything since I did not see it.

Then go thru and remove all traces from your HDD and delete the crap it left in the registry.

Yep just delete that crap and download AVG free version to replace it.

To stop ActiveShield from starting when Windows starts:

Right-click the McAfee icon, point to VirusScan, and then click Options.
The VirusScan Options dialog box opens.

Clear the Start ActiveShield when Windows starts (recommended) check box, and then click Apply to save your changes.

Click OK to confirm, and then click OK.

and then restart

I hope she knows what she's doing with 'Hijack this' or else she will delete something she needs to run her system. Then, she have to reinstall her whole OS. :Oh crap
