Unproductive Advertising

Hi Everybody.

As of the 1st of the month, I have been advertising my new resource site on the submit page of WorldSex. I figured that I would be getting more traffic than the 1-6 uniques/day I am getting from it. I spent $700 for the month and am probably not going to make :2 cents: from it.

If anyone has any better ideas for more productive (and less expensive) places to advertise - or would like to trade links with me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Buy banner ads on GFY
I would think better results.

Pipecrew 04-04-2002 10:34 AM

yeah worldsex wasnt a good choice man...

ZoiNk 04-04-2002 10:34 AM

I would suggest buying a button spot on a message board, like GFY, adultnetsurprise, netpond, etc. Probably the best traffic would come from message boards themselves, I know that is how I found 80%+ of my current sponsors.

If it sounds like I'm insane, I probably am!

chodadog 04-04-2002 10:41 AM

fuck dude. Pay me that amount of cash and i'd send you 5 people a day that use credit cards online on a regular basis...

700 bucks.. fucking hell.

Check out www.naughtymail.com You can buy webmaster traffic based on per click, email [email protected]

Buying a spot on GFY is a pretty damn good idea i would say! I'm sure you'd get better results then the $100 a click you are paying now!

I wouldn't go blaiming worldsex for ERRORS in your SERVER or server stats program. An add selling dogshit on that site gets 10K plus in hits a day and some of the WORST converting programs out there make many sales a day advertising on it as Worldsex has a LOT of SWEET buying traffic. SItes with ANY sales ability sell TONS on there and GOOD paysites make a KILLING.

Choker 04-06-2002 09:36 PM

BTW Turbo, when I am submitting galleries to tgps, I don't have the time to get distracted by banners on the submission pages. Unless the banner really catches my eye with something like "Sponsor provides 100,000 free pics", I'm not gonna click on it myself. Submitting galleries is a real pain in the ass. I just want to get it done with as soon as possible. But Worldsex probably gets more submits a day than any other tgp. If you are only getting 6 to 7 a day, maybe it's your banner man.
Just my :2 cents:

Turboface 04-06-2002 09:40 PM

Thanks for the insight - I may have to rethink how to advertise this...

baddog 04-06-2002 09:41 PM

You want webmaster traffic? Then go check out http://contentlotto.com Create an account, then play some games. Check out how the advertising works there, including how the player is taken to the sponsor site while game is loading. Who knows? You might even win some sex.com traffic, or up to $300 in content INSTANTLY. Ok, maybe you are not interested in the content, but now you know the attraction to the average webmaster.

ContentLotto went active a week ago. There are 500+ registered players, and there are over 1.500 game plays a day.

I have spoken to several webmasters that have told me they bought content from different sponsors that they were unaware of before playing the games. So name branding is obviously working as intended.

We have extremely reasonable rates that you can see here We even have daily rates if you want to test the waters, and we are offering 30% off this weekend, so it is a good time to lock in some great rates with excellent viewage.

Check it out and contact me direct if you have any questions.

Ya think? I mean, sure, the numbers should be higher, but how many are auto submits, how many are people in a rush with 50 more tgp's to go, etc.. Nothing against worldsex, but i doubt his server was down for the entire month. :)

Turboface 04-06-2002 09:58 PM

My stats are far from fucked - I have 5 webpage counters on the site - and server stats. I know for sure that I am getting shit from them. I figured that it was a sure deal - targeted traffic, one of the highest traffic TGPs around, but it has turned out to be a big disappointment for me.

:Oh crap

Choker 04-06-2002 10:10 PM

Yep, I think it was your banner Turbo
http://submit.worldsex.com/cgi-bin/brownie/submit.cgi

I wouldn't click on it. Looks the same as every other banner you see on a resource page. Nothing to make me stop submitting and check out. And when I go to your site, it is nothing more than a glorified spam page. Many tgp's have better resource pages than that on their gallery submit page. No reason for me to bookmark it. Maybe have some things there to give webmasters reason to come back, not just spam them with your ref urls. No offense meant, just being honest and to the point. :2 cents:

Turboface 04-06-2002 10:20 PM

Thanks, I think.

Paul Markham 04-06-2002 10:22 PM

We tried advertising and the hit rate went up to crazy levels, the conversion rate went up slightly. The money from that site did not move at all.

Think about it, a lot of surfers looking for free porn go around the boards. The first thing they see is the banner and they are on to your site.

Our best place for gettiing business is the boards. Placing messages, why do you think there are so many content providers posting?

Hmmm...I have two dogs....Content costs would be nil for a dog shit site for me....

SleazyDream 04-06-2002 10:45 PM

i'm assuming Adult-site-revenue banner was yours. Here's your probelm. It took 15 seconds for it to load from my location. That's a problem with your hosting company probally and I'd talk to them. Some locations might be faster but if it took that long for me then others are having the same probelm. I'm not shitting you, and I have a GOOD 10MBPS high speed connection. Surfers were clicking you banner and then leaving cause webmasters don't have more than 3-4 seconds patience.

he second time I clicked it - it loaded ok, but the first click is EVERYTHING

Turboface 04-06-2002 10:52 PM

You know what? It's that damn flash title I have - I'm just gonna do up a normal gif title that will load faster. I know how impatient surfers are and I have to change that.

Thanks!

Choker 04-06-2002 10:54 PM

TURBOOOOOO DUDE, HERE's an idea for ya

You already paid for month so you gotta make the best of it, right??

1. You are advertising on a heavy traffic TGP'S gallery submision form.
2. Gallery submitters need shitloads of what???
:ak47: CONTENT
3. As already posted in this thread there are tons of content providers posting here.
4. What content provider here will sell Turbo 100 pics with a license that he can give 100 pics away to other webmasters??
5. Turbo makes a cool banner that says "WEBMASTERS-100 FREE PICS"
6. Turbo links that banner to his resource site.
7. Turbo gives 100 free pics away to webmasters that visit his resource site.
8. Turbo is happy, Sleazy is happy, and Okidoki is too:thumbsup

BTW, Same here as with Sleazy, your site is VERYYYYYY slow

421Fill 04-06-2002 11:17 PM

Damn, Choker.... I am Turbo, he is Turboface. LOL No offense TurboFACE. :smokin

Anyways, I agree with Gary, when I'm going down a list of sites to submit to I rarely even look at the ads. When I wanna find something, I'll come here or other boards, etc.

So, Choker.... I Am Turbo. lol

Choker 04-06-2002 11:21 PM

LOL, Sorry Turbo. so is Turboface kin or something??:Graucho

421Fill 04-06-2002 11:23 PM

LOL. Nah. :stoned

Turboface 04-06-2002 11:27 PM

No relation (that I am aware of).

We will, hit us on ICQ or send an email.

Turboface 04-07-2002 12:12 AM

Hey Choker - Thanks for the idea!

Howz this: If someone wants to give me some content that I can give away. I will make you the star of the site: a banner at the top and a few links - permanently.

I'm not getting the traffic now, but I have the determination to make this site work no matter what. I believe it would be a mutually benifical deal.

And also, thanks to all the cool webmasters I have met and chatted with on ICQ tonight about this thread.

Turboface

Yikes :1orglaugh

421Fill 04-07-2002 04:42 PM

:evil-laug I'm a pappy. woo hooo. LOL

jojojo 04-07-2002 04:54 PM

tgp submitting is such a pain in the ass as it is - I don't even notice anything except the form - because I have done it a thousand times like most webmasters...

besides why would I click on a banner to visit a resource site?

Most adult webmasters already know where the GOOD resource sites are - and we rarely click on banners in the first place... unless of course the banners are on a GOOD resource/board site... but then again why would I click on a banner to visit a resource site if the banner is advertised on a GOOD resource site to begin with...

see the paradox?
