Keeping Laptops Cool
How do you keep your laptop cool? Which device do you use? I just bought a 15" Powerbook and while it doesn't get super warm, i want to extend its life as long as possible. Which device do you use to keep your laptop cool, does it have fans or just prop it up? Do you have a link? Where did you get it?

Read my reply in your thread, not every laptop is manufactured the same way. My question was what people used to keep their laptops cool and or prop them up to keep them cool. I don't need your silly comments on how laptops work, especially when they are obviously wrong and vary from laptop to laptop.

I've found that keeping things clean really helps.
In my case, my Vaio was running really hot for a while and when I opened up one of the vents underneath to see if anything'd gotten in there to stifle the airflow, I was appalled to see a veritable carpet of dust and cat hair that'd collected over the course of a year and a half from sitting on the coffee table (we have five cats, shut up :winkwink: ). Clean means cool. :2 cents: Chris - ATKCash |

yeah this one is brand new (got it yesterday), its a powerbook 15". Just wondered what people used to keep it cool while using it as a desktop. Was trying to see what worked and did not work for people. |
if it has vents on the bottom, prop it up on its side like a book... and of course if it has vents on the side aswell then prop it up on the side that dosent block the vents...

I have one of those little portable fan units that mine sits, on. The fans are run off of the usb. Seems to work great. Got it at sams for about 19$

I use a Targus Podium Coolpad. It is a 'prop up' kind and works just fine for me.
