if a white man has a baby with a black girl what color would the baby be??

anyone know? is it going to be:

a) white
b) black
c) mixed

man, it's been a while since I left school, I should've paid attention in the biology classes

galleryseek 12-26-2005 03:17 PM

I believe there isn't any definitive answer..

It is possible for a BLACK COUPLE to have a white child (it has happened).

swoop 12-26-2005 03:20 PM

depends on the darker pigment of the girl. is she really black? milk chocolate?

a friend of mine married a black girl and their girl is mixed
another guy I know has two kids with a black woman and both their kids a re 100% black

I want to know what the probabities are, e.g there's a 75% chance that the kid's going to be black, 12% white etc.

as for a black couple having a white kid that's simply not possible unless there's a white ancestor somewhere down the line, the albinos are not 'white' btw although their skin color is white

Shortbread 12-26-2005 03:25 PM

This thread is stupid

didn't you have bilogy in school?

I remember we were always studying shit like that - if the one parent had blue eyes and the other one brown eyes what color eyes woud their kids have etc, it was about chromosomes or some other shit ;)

Shooting_Maniac1 12-26-2005 03:29 PM

It has little to do with their parents color and most everything do to their DNA chain. If the black mother had a white father, or grandfather some where along her family tree, it could change the outcome of the babies final pigment. Same with the father... for example.

This girl is white, but with a black father and a white mother The black father had a white mother.

SquireMD 12-26-2005 03:37 PM

it's more complicated than that...it's called polygenetic inheritance...many different genes code for the trait (in this case, pigmentation)...so yeah, it's not about probability and you won't know until the baby is born...

Big Red Machine 12-26-2005 03:42 PM

White + Black = mixed
Black + White = mixed

You've confused Boston with San Francisco.

2HousePlague 12-26-2005 03:56 PM

the hardest thing to overcome is prejudice -- which is literally pre-existing judgement. barring that, you could call the pot black and we'd know his sister was the kettle, or red gray and yello white for that matter -- :1orglaugh

:1orglaugh people do call San Francisco the "west coast Boston" and vice versa.....we do have the second most densely populated area (Provincetown, MA) of gay people per capita behind South Beach and in front of S.F.

tony286 12-26-2005 06:02 PM

reynold 12-26-2005 06:08 PM

Try to look at this Gregor Mendel's PEA experiment. This is the only topic I could recall as far as my HS biology class is concerned..

PixeLs 12-27-2005 12:52 AM

It's not conclusive.. The couple could give birth to a Black, a white or a mized offspring--as presented on that experiment..

if she has a black father then she's not white....back in slavery days, she would be called a "quadroon" which means that she would STILL be slave.
