Is it bull shit or not?

Ace-wtf 12-26-2005 05:26 AM

negative

this is not BS
even in hospitals they have these kind of lamps to treat the patients with positive ions produced by the light.

it keeps the spirits high

if you live in a dark (cloudy/grey) place it can be good all year round

2HousePlague 12-26-2005 05:30 AM

this is bullshit: I have to pay LA city tax because I work at home

BIGTYMER 12-26-2005 06:39 AM

I'm indoors a lot.. I best buy one. :)

Quagmire 12-26-2005 08:49 AM

That site reminds me of 99% of the penis enlargement pill sites. "Our shit works!"

I have a dual bulb light bar over my work space with one warm and one cool bulb in it which throws off a pretty natural light spectrum. Plants grow well under these light conditions.

i call bs. I live in WA and it's ALWAYS cloudy/grey/raining. i'm in BETTER moods when it's like that. When the sun comes out I get moody.

You're lucky to be wired that way, Washington weather can be depressing. Look at the suicide rate. I'm a WA native and love just about everything but the weather. I'm in AZ for the winter.

You live in Phoenix? A cheaper solution. Open your blinds :thumbsup
Seriously, we have so many days of sunshine here (325, average) that I actually get sick of it. I LOVE cloudy, rainy days.

sfera 12-26-2005 11:48 AM

very interresting :thumbsup

Spunky 12-26-2005 11:53 AM

Bah..I work by the light of the monitor

BV 12-26-2005 11:57 AM

It's for real. I have a Colombian friend/ colleague that married a woman from Miami and took her back to Colombia with him. They ended up having to move back to Miami because of depression that was brought on from not enough sunlight.

His family grew roses commercially and in Colombia in the full sun you only get between 36 - 52% of the available sunlight due to the almost permanent cloud cover in the region.

Strange but true.

Alaska blacks out for almost half the year and during those times all the people I know up there are still their happy, "my environment is prettier than yours" non depressed, life is grand selves, so it is, like so many things, all in what you like, think you like or how your body reacts to things.

The prices are rediculous though, I get the same amount of lumen, infrared, UVa and UVb out of bulbs I use for my aquariums and reptiles for under 30 bucks a bulb (and balast and housing in some cases) that have plenty of light in the blue, blue/green and red wavelenghts. They also are in compact flourecents which do not generate much heat at all (run mine 12 hours a day and can at any time unscrew one with the light still on)

All of them running on that cycle on all tanks runs me about 10.00 a month and each one was less than 30.00 for 75 watts designed to illuminate 400 square yards. Look up flourex which is what I use on my algae and aquatic plant tanks and you can get good bar lights from the pet store by asking someone for something that will be good for marine coral.

Pete-KT 12-26-2005 12:09 PM

exactly, thats the way to do it

True, I got so excided the first time it rained out here I went nuts with the camera. I started tanning at least once a week when I lived in Boston and kept doing ti after I moved here. I even do little things like cross ventilation and air purifiers. Plenty of water and good food. I try and take good care of myself, but i still love the coffee and red bull.

I believe we are products of our environment. If it takes mood lighting or aroma candles to do a better job or keep a clear mind then I'm into it.

Vitasoy 12-26-2005 01:41 PM

I own two of these EasyFlex Deluxe lights, http://www.verilux.net/products/easyflexfloorlamps.htm I have to say they're a waste of money.. Spent $300+ on them. Also spent another $250 bucks on bulbs needless to say they hurt the eyes more but they're bright as hell. (you can grow weed with them ;) )

Vitasoy 12-26-2005 01:48 PM

These are the bulbs I got...

That is an awesome pic!
I agree with doing whatever it takes to do a better job. I have to have my soft music playing and I just put a fountain in my home office. And when it is cloudy out, I take the laptop and the MP3 player and go sit out on the patio.

Thanks.

Music (or lack there of) is key too.

Life is so much simpler out here not having to worry about the weather slowing you down, that I can concentrate more on my work and less on trying to get out of the driveway.

PixeLs 12-27-2005 12:58 AM

Sounds interesting but I don't think I'd be needing that..

reynold 12-27-2005 02:20 AM

I'm used to this irregular sleeping schedule of mine.

I don't think I'd still be needing that.

reed_4 12-27-2005 05:44 AM

I really like using lampshades in my room. I like it. :thumbsup

nebula 12-27-2005 06:35 AM

They work. Look at getting one of the subtle desk uplights to put infront of your computer screen.
