How to fix the annoying Firefox memory leak?

The method with modifying the "browser.cache.memory.capacity" value does not work on Firefox 1.0.7 on WinXP.

Any tips?

Yeah, just checked right after I made my post.

Hopefully, it should fix things up.

Installed Firefox 1.5, and I still have the same problem.

I only have 3 tabs open, and my memory usage for Firefox.exe alone is 339,968K!

What's inside the tabs? My FF usually runs 25 to 75. Never gone anywheres near where you're at.

You can tweak the about:config file also.

The Firefox Tweaking Guide is on this link:

How much RAM do you have?

Adding 2gb to a laptop is just stupid, unless you're doing hardcore multimedia work.

I'm on a laptop with 1gb RAM, and it's not from just one of the tabs. It appears from further Googling, that there are lots of others out there with the same problem with no working solution. :(

Also, something to note, is it just me, or is Firefox 1.5 receiving lots of Time Out Error messages when visiting sites that work perfectly fine in IE?

i don't have it as bad as 300k for 3 windows, i usually have rpoblems with about 15 or so, some boards i find eat it more then others too.
