*** SEO question: Google or Yahoo?! ***
Which one do you find better, Google or Yahoo? Different algorithms are giving different results. While Google is relaying on good inbound links, Yahoo is looking for updated content.
Try searching for this keyword: "ipod porn" or "ipod porn videos" (the 2nd one is just a suggestion) and tell me which results did you like better? :D Remember this: "Everything is relative!" :pimp |
"Everything is relative!"
|
yes it is.... for me google brings a way too much traffic than yahoo, which is pretty quality.... So I'd rather stick with Google ;)

i was talking about difference in searching algorithms and which way that affects results you've getting... :) |
Y is far superior to G relative to relevance.
G is just a fucked up mess - as many ppl are now getting to grips with. |
exactly...this is what I was talking about ;)
Yahoos' results are not as relative as google ones are. That's the point that google traffic is more targeted and better for some search term, in this case ipod porn....got me now ? |

i was never able to see that google's traffic is more/less targeted... were you? :D you are not looking at the results. you would talk about this searching keyword otherwise. by accident i've found yahoo to give better results on this keyword and that is why i opened this thread... google is giving results containing some news sites, something like this: "ipod porn will be... ipod porn expansion...", and all i wanted to get was ipod porn videos for download... yahoo gave me a way better results this time! :D |
What has surprised me lately is that my new sites are getting WAY more traffic from MSN than Goggle or Yahoo.
Can't understand why, maybe MSN bot is crawling my site more? I don't care, I'll take ALL SE traffic. |

let me know one of your url's, so i can see myself... |
Well on "new" stuff, I'm getting traffic from Yahoo and MSN... As MSN grows, it may eventually get to the point where doing all the linking for Google won't be worth it since you could get more traffic from Yahoo and MSN combined than from Google. More traffic for less work means better ROI and higher profits...

you have much more chance on trying to reach 33% of the market with Yahoo + MSN (46% of the US market!) with less effort... :) |
Google, obviously :)

well, I have to admit i've been playing with the bots with my new blog for two weeks now and so far yahoo has been sending the most traffic, google hasn't sent a thing, and msn is starting to send. If you're wondering, on my blog i'm not using any "keyword spamming" techniques or not even any meta tags. I'll have to repost something once I start seeing results from it all though. Sorry for a somewhat useless post. :)

Yahoo is still easy to manipulate with lots of inbound links with proper keywords and pushing keywords on the page (H1, bolded, etc.) |
thanks for the contribution... :)

Over course www.lesbiangoddesses.net (this one is about 3 months old now) is starting to pick up steam with MSN, but not out doing Google yet. |
don't you know google is just a waste of bandwidth????? newbie
|
There is one reason why newbies see better results with msn and yahoo, and that's because the heavy SE spammers target google because of the possible volume you can get.
There's simply less good targetted competition on especially msn. We all expect msn to pick up in volume at some time, and when that happens you'll find it alot more difficult to get listings there. What newbies can do pro's can do 100 times more effectively. Mostly because of resources, scripts and experience. What works on google does not work as well on the 2 others, so you have to customize your templates per engine, or just focus on google or the other two. |
i would say google, i think everyone uses them
|
nettrust, when you use dual nicks to promote your sigs in silly pseudo SEO babble cockamamy threads in Engrish you are bound to trip up sometimes.
Sorry things didn't work out for ya. I would be am hoping that the day which was tomorrow is an good one is you for..are you is understanding finally me?? |
I think Google killed itself in the search game when it started sandboxing new sites from 6months to 1-2 years.
Google (the best as for now) has the most relevant results in it's index but that index contains old data. I look for Msn to take over the search game in the future. |
I like both.
Google's algo leans towards the non-spammy sites vs yahoo's. |
Google..
|
Y's quality is better but G's numbers are definitely much better. Obviously results may vary, but these are my results...

the other way to get there is to register already registered domain in the past. google would keep your site there until he is sure all of the past inbound links are dead... |

did you see my sig's gone? and that happened a week ago... go find some better place for arguing... * i was not able to resist the provocation... :D |
one more bump for this thread...
|
don't know if it's on topic or not, but one of my highest earning adsense sites is actually banned from the google index. goog is monetizing yahoo and msn traffic. heh. (no real reason for the banning. i think i was collateral damage from one of their recent updates).
