Christmas is in two days and my son will be spoiled once again. His friend and next door neighbor, however, will not be. The friend's mother is a single mom with 4 kids who had a great life until her husband started abusing her and was deservedly sentenced to several years in jail. His family suffers in numerous ways. But this is Christmas and I'm very saddended that each of those 4 children will only have one present under their tree, and that was provided by local firefighters. So today I'm going to Toys-R-Us and shopping for twin 3 year old girls, a 6 year old boy, and an 11 year old girl. And I'm going to set them in a bag on her back porch, knock, and run.
