GFY Experts: What's A Good Video Camera For Just Recreational Use

For just recreational and family use would you guys recommend a camera such as this?

I'm just looking for something that is easy to use, not too bulky and is decent quality. I haven't shopped for video cameras in AGES so I am totally behind the times of what is considered a good video camera.

Thanks GFY Videocam experts :)

Mark,

Claire just bought a cam in the same price range but much better.

I would NEVER buy a DVD cam. Only mini DV

Look for cams with 3 CCD sensors.

I would recommend the GS4000 over the 250.
It's not much more, and performs better in almost every aspect.

Read some reviews out there, this is pretty much the best on the market for prosumer.

DVD cameras compress the video you shoot to MPEG2 before you can work with it. Although this is a good compression, raw DV is much better.

i would go for a cam that has a built in HD... they have some with up to 4 hours recording time. Fuck buying tapes and DVDs and all that bullshit.
