Download vs. Streaming - Can't Decide
93.25% of our content bandwidth goes to downloads. 6.85% to streaming.
Maybe I could save a LOT of money if I stopped offering the content for download? Or maybe people join our sites specifically because they CAN download - and I would actually loose money if I stopped offering the content for download? Actually, I am not thinking of terminating downlads altogether - i HAVE TO have downloading for the iPod site we do. So I am thinking of ONLY allowing those downloads, and killing the Windows Media Downloads. What do you think: Would members be pissed if they only had the option to download Quicktime? |
I personally hate video streaming and I'd never join a site that has only streaming as an option.

Streaming is cool but needs to be in WMV and not mac format

what are your payment options?

I'd prefer downloading..

All surfers prefer downloads, but you might retain better if you only use streaming.

A few very big programs only offer streaming. They seem to do ok.

downloading it is.

depends on how much content you have and how often you update.
the surfers prefer downloads, because they can turn on their machine in the morning, and click a bunch of vids to save to their HD and come home after work and wank. now if you don't have much content or you don't update all the time you won't recur very well---if you do you will keep the surfer on the hook. |
