Bet the farm on Chicago....???

Well, my research suggests that the BET THE FARM game of the week is:

Green Bay / Chicago

The current lines on Green Bay are -7 and I think that they are sure to blow this one. I would take Chicago and beg/borrow and/or steal all you can and bet it.

Here's why:

Green Bay is the lowest ranked team in the NFC North and if they continue their poor showing it will earn them a first round draft pick. At this point in the season they have nothing to gain from winning and everything to gain next season by bolstering their lagging roster. Green Bay demonstrated in the game against Baltimore that they are not interested in wining.

Chicago is the top ranked team in the NFC North and has beat almost every team that Green Day has lost to this season. Chicago has everything to gain by protecting their place.

This is not as scientific as many picks and not as flamboyant as BoneProne, but everything I see and hear makes me believe that this is the LOCK of the season.

What do you think?

Looks like a solid bet to me.

Where's BP when you need him.

They will have a first round draft pick anyways. Unless it will goto another team from a previous trade or something.

Does that mean that you disagree with the fact that this game is a solid bet?

buy a point, bears -6

Sosa 12-22-2005 03:48 PM

I would keep it under 7 points by buying points if I were to bet on it.

Call my Packers "Green DAY" again, and I'll be pissed.

Though I almost want The Pack to lose to eliminate all possibility of Minnnesota getting in, this isn't the lock it would appear obvious to be.

Green Bay by 3.

I would definitely buy a point...

And your statement is like Saying when the Mets play the Yankees at the end of the year the Mets don't care if they win or not becasue they are already out of the run for the playoffs.

There's a rivalry there that goes way back - and that changes the game no matter what.. I'm looking forward to the X-Mas day game, I have a feeling it would be a close one though. I would take Da Bears -3 but not -6 personally ...

Bears tend to blow it when you least expect them to unfortunately I know as a Bear's fan .. Then again, I have only bet on like 5 games in my life - LOL

if rex has a good game, greenbay is done before the first snap

Lycanthrope 12-22-2005 04:31 PM

Regardless VD, your team still has some catching up to do:

Grossman has something to prove and GB is very very weak this season. I would consider this as close to a lock as it gets. If I weren't too lazy to leave the house I'd go to the casino and put about 10k on Chicago for this one.

I dunno I hate to bet against teams who were thrashed and embarrassed especially on a MNF game.

I've read a few sportswriters picking this as there upset of the week. Green Bay
one thing is for sure, they will play a lot harder than last monday's blowout. I still like the bears in this one

fr0gman 12-25-2005 06:52 PM

Well, hopefully some of your took my advice and bet on the Bears.

Personally, I almost doubled my bank as a result of this game. I hope some of you did the same.
