Are there any cascading external hard drive?
I'm looking for external harddrive I can connect one to another so that when one harddrive has reach its capacity the next harddrive will continue with the saving until it reaches its capacity and proceed to the next one and so on.
Basically I'd like them to act as one harddrive and not separate ones. Are there harddrive I can hookup one to another? |
Dont know any such HDs off hand, but it should be possibly with RAID and/or some software?

Raid could do it.
But it is highly recommended ( if not required ) that the drives be all the same size. Then, your motherboard has to have the raid function ( extra IDE connectors and a raid chip ). Otherwise, you have to add a raid pci card. If you need one, I have a Promise one that I could let go for 25.00 plus shipping ( from Montreal ). |
Just get some raid 0 capable external drives and chain them together. The LaCie 250GB d2 supports that configuration.
