Irish Gangsters? Why haven't we heard of them?

I'll tell you why.

They don't rat.

They don't write books.

They don't wear flashy clothing, jewelry or drive fancy cars to attract attention

The fact is Irish Gangster are very real and very eminant in today's society. They were here in America 'first' since the 1850's.

Movie like "THE GODFATHER" took the heat off of the Irish hoods and gave them time to make money while the Feds were suddenly interested in investigating the Italians.

America and the World over is about to see the Irish mob in Boston and their gritty lifestyles today.

We are casting a big name to portray the mob boss, everyone else will be from the Boston area.

They're too drunk to actually commit crimes.

haha! Yes, lots of boozing. Most of the Irish gangsters are in small crews that consist of brothers and family members. They are usually jailed or killed before they have the chance to pass down their legacy to children.

FuqALot 12-22-2005 05:53 AM

And they won't like you making movies about them. :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 12-22-2005 06:02 AM

because they used to be too busy funding bombs to blow up my city?

Nah, they were just a couple of brothers off the boat living in South Boston. That movie had nothing to do with the Irish mob. I think it was the Russian mob in that movie. I'm not a big fan of Boondock Saints. It was okay for what it was.

TRUE! I'm not using any events that will implement or cause any heat amongst the Irish. Mostly the film is cliche gambling, bankrobbing and murder. But its all done accurately to how the Irish mob operates.

That's the IRA. Townies is about Irish American gangsterism. Although the lead character's (Me) father is a political prisoner.

Perhaps but enough Boston money paid for them. I love Boston though..I went to Northeastern University before I moved to the UK.

O'Dea has an nicer ring to it. I'm an actor and its pretty common for actors to change their names. To be honest I felt plagued with my birth name, I dragged it through the mud for two decades and I just want to put it behind me. There are only about Mike O'Deas in the US, compared to over 700 Mike Kenney's. Do I know you?

Hah, you may be very happy if your movie is anything close to the quality of that one. Don't understand me wrong though, I think it's awesome to be involved with movies.

You are right. I've said before that my hat is off to Troy Duffy for creating a film that has turned into a massive cult hit.

I grew up in Dorchester and then Charlestown. There is plenty going on behind the scenes that doesn't make the media. There are placesin Boston that the Italians don't even fuck with.

Some things are better left undiscussed. What happens in Charlestown, stays in Charlestown. You are just raised to keep your mouth shut and that is the truth.

Good luck with the film, and I will be forwarding this to quite a few family and friends :thumbsup

I'm of Irish descent. We had plenty of gangs at the turn of the century, the movie 'Gangs of New York' is all about them. We also had the Westies, but they just killed each other instead of killing other gangs. Irish thugs tend to be suicidal.

Pornwolf 12-22-2005 09:09 PM

Irish gangsters almost completely died out in the late 70's. I dunno why, they just did. Hard to find now.

Doctor Dre 12-22-2005 09:11 PM

The irish control the export / import in montreal ... probably 90 + % of it...

Even back when the bikers where running the show in canada until very late in the game they were providing them...

They are very well known.

Good! because the last thing you want to do is piss off any irish gangsters, I have no idea how it works in Boston but in Belfast irish gangsters would not think twice about murdering you and your family if you did anything to piss them off :Oh crap

dissipate 12-23-2005 06:34 AM

That's right bitches, boston4life :thumbsup

Johny Traffic 12-23-2005 09:27 AM

The reason you havnt heard of them is because, having a guiness smelling builder turning up with wellington boots and offering to tarmac your drive isnt as scarey as waking up with a horses head in your bed :pimp

Fred Quimby 12-23-2005 09:48 AM

My great grandfather was born in Belfast.

They moved to NY in the early 20's

2 Years later he was killed by a horse and carriage

s9ann0 12-23-2005 10:34 AM

you mean the IRA ?
