True, but it's a team game and the question was about the best player.

His team didn't make the playoffs and he's also way better in his 3rd year then his first 2.

It's my opinion he's already the best player in the league.

And I'm a Kobe fan too.

boneprone 12-20-2005 10:39 PM

KOBE HAS 62 POINTS ALREADY!! And Its only the end of the 4th QUARTER!

Cory W 12-20-2005 10:41 PM

Boneprone. Kobe outscored the entire Maverick team.

Can you pull stats? Has that ever happened in 3 quarters before in history?

Darren, Lebron just hasn't had the opportunities to get the label IMO.

Jordan without opportunities was not the best ever :)

True.

I just think LeBron is still better then Kobe right now.

But it's close.

Kobe is still the man... LeBron is the King.

Have you seen that ESPN commercial where Lebron ask the ESPN guy if he took his chair??? haha

Spunky 12-20-2005 10:52 PM

He's on fire for sure..

Mr. Mojo Risin 12-20-2005 11:26 PM

Lebron is good, but he hasn't even made the playoffs yet. Kobe is #1 or #2 in the league because of his scoring, defense and clutch shots. It's hard to decide who's the best between A.I., Duncan, Kobe, Lebron. A.I should be the best player if you look at the numbers. A.I. put up gaudy numbers last year and he is again this year, but since his team isn't doing good, he isn't getting the recognition he deserves. It's hard to argue with numbers. #1 in scoring, #3 steals, #5 assists last year.

tristan_D 12-21-2005 01:06 AM

not sure if he's the best, but I should say one of the best

Edgey Boy 12-21-2005 02:18 AM

I don't know... Lebron has some crazy hops for a young player.. I think if Lebron really wanted to score a ton in games, i'm sure he could.. Kobe is more like a ball hog type player, like T-Mac..

kmanrox 12-21-2005 02:22 AM

YOU just say that because he's BLACK!!!!!!!!

oh wait, all the best players are black, my bad....

Ok, some of you say Lebron isn't as good as Kobe because he hasn't made the playoffs yet...well how many times has Kobe made the playoffs without Shaq? Perhaps the Lakers will actually make the playoffs this year, but then so will the Cavs most likely. As for who is the better player, just look at the stats. They basically avg the same amount of points, except Lebron kills Kobe in other stats, while shooting .500. Also, Kobe is pretty much the only offensive option on the Lakers, Odom does shit all. Lebron has Hughes and Z, and he still average 31 pts a game; this is insane for a 20 year old. While Kobe is still an awesome player, Lebron has the edge and he is only gonna get better.

You have a point, but one can also argue that A.I. is the best in the league when you look at his stats compared to any other player. Last year #1 in points, #3 steals, #5 assists(no ball hog anymore). If it were just stats that made the player(and stats reflect a lot) A.I. should have been MVP last year and he's having a similar season as far as stats. But Kobe is a "winner". I've seen that guy hit clutch shots so many times to win big games and that's one of the reasons why he's one of the best. His D is better than A.I. and lebron also. He made 1st team D team thrice. and 2nd team many times. He's only had one whole year without Shaq, so the argument about him needing Shaq for the playoffs or to win a championship doesn't jive. Also, it wasn't just Shaq he lost, he lost P.J.(he's not back and making a difference vs last year) he lost Rick Fox and Derek Fisher. All these guys were integral to 3 championships. Robert Horry was a big part of those too. Kobe and P.J. were the most important of all IMO. Shaq was a big part of the championships, but that guy is the most overpaid and overrated cry baby in the league. He wasn't satisfied with being the highest paid player in the league, he had to be the highest paid player in the league by leaps and bounds. No way is he worth 28 million a year (twice as much as Kobe). He isn't even the best player on the Heat, Dwanye Wade is, though everybody kisses his ass and he automatically gets up there in M.V.P. voting last year somehow. He's injured half the time too.

Mr. Mojo Risin 12-21-2005 05:38 AM

Also Lamar Odom is way to inconsistent scoring wise. He's a pretty good rebounder though, but he's not worth his salary of 11 million this year (only about 3 million less than Kobe).

Vitasoy 12-21-2005 07:56 AM

He certainly lit it up against the mavs... dayam

Jennyfer 12-21-2005 02:20 PM

Lebron is definitely good but still Kobe is the best!

Anar_j 12-21-2005 02:42 PM

Lebron James will be the best, but Kobe is the best for now!

TheWylders 12-21-2005 03:08 PM

I fucking hate Kobe Bryant, but you gotta give the man props. I hate it, but I just might have to agree he's the best talent in the league right now.

mastermikex 12-21-2005 03:30 PM

Kobe is awesome, no doubt about that, and the top offensive talent along with Iverson. While Iverson is tougher than nails, i think Kobe has a more complete game. However, I think Lebron will eventually blow these guys out of the water. In his second season he avg'd 27-7-7 for gods sake, thats fucking amazing. And this season, while his rebounds and assists are down, his scoring is up and he's shooting over .500, which is just nasty. He pretty much gets the same amount of points as Kobe or Iverson, but has attempted about 200 less shots to do it. He is the only guy probably in the next decade who even has a chance at averaging a triple double every night.

Kobe is also a first team defensive player, lebron's defense is not that great

FreeHugeMovies 12-21-2005 03:52 PM

The best "Ball Hog."

D-Money 12-21-2005 04:06 PM

Good arguments for LeBron in here.

The proof will take years.

And Kobe was in the zone last night.

But Lebron isn't as selfish as Kobe, so I don't know that LeBron would have opted to go net as much as Kobe last night, he'd dish it off more.

It's close between the 2 guys, but if you had to pick the franchise player right now, you'd have to think LeBron is the future.

Though Kobe has won it all a few times, experience is good, but people who have never won it all seem to win it all sooner or later as well.

It like saying Magic was not a great player because he never won any ring without Kareem. Magic was still Da PLAYER in his time and so is Kobe. BTW how many rings did Shaq get without Kobe? Shaq has so many good players in his team right now, and you know what? he is not going to win this years. So how good is Shaq without Kobe?

ChewbaCreative 12-21-2005 05:26 PM

he's great player, but not the best - Shaq, Al Iverson, J Kidd the great players too
and not a single player wins the ring, but the team did it ;)

The Demon 12-21-2005 05:48 PM

In terms of the best in the league he's tied with Iverson and Mcgrady. In terms of pure talent and potential, I think that goes to Vince Carter..

PixeLs 12-21-2005 05:50 PM

2nd best player of the week award for this season with impressive scoring stats-- thumbs up for this guy!! :)

reynold 12-21-2005 08:22 PM

62 points or could be more if not for that fag--Yes, Kobe is the man! :thumbsup

reed_4 12-21-2005 11:31 PM

I agree he is one of the best player in the NBA today but still he needs his team to make it to the finals. If only Shaq and the rest who were traded to others were still intact I'm sure they could dominate once more.

Beejeebers 12-21-2005 11:44 PM

Two words: Mo Pete.

mastermikex 12-22-2005 03:42 AM

Say you could go back in time and pick either Kobe or Lebron for the cornerstone of your franchise. Knowing what Kobe has done so far, would you rather pick him or Lebron? For that matter, what about Carter, AI, Garnett? I would still go with Lebron...i think he has the potential to surpass all of them and will eventually do so.

bdld 12-22-2005 04:16 AM

Kobe has 3 rings, the greatest coach in the history of the NBA on his side, and real basketball talent rivaled only by Michael Jordan.

The Demon 12-22-2005 07:24 AM

I would pick Garnett over either of those choices considering he is almost as a complete player as Tim Duncan, the best player in the league. If I want my team to win I wouldn't pick lebron nor kobe.
