Calling out all Floridians - Step Inside

Fresh off of graduation, Im looking to relocate to the south Florida area. Fortunately for me, I allready have a few jobs lined up with some local CPA firms in the Miami area.

Anyhow, just so i don't paint myself into a corner, I'd like to hear your thoughts (pros & cons) about Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, or any other city in Florida you find more beneficial than the other.

Just so you know, i understand the cost of living in Miami is above average - and speaking spanish is not an issue.

Whatever you like or dislike would be helpful - leaving tomorrow, I'll get a first hand look (I-95) what damage Wilma and other hurricanes has done to the state infrastructure.

any :2 cents: :2 cents: would be helpful - gracias

Boca - now i like the sound of that one - so is the cost of living higher in that area than in Miami?

From what i know, Jack Welch and the rest of the GE crew would allways rendevez there annually for corprate traning/strategy - so from that, i know that section is tip/top.

You will find a much newer & nicer place in Boca for less money.

I'm in West Palm, it's ok. Kind of boring at times, but there are bars that stay open till 5 am around here. Ft. Lauderdale is great to party, lots to do there. Boca is mainly all old people. I have even heard that some people don't lock their doors down there.

interesting - that's the whole attraction for Miami because it looks like something is allways going on.

west palm looks rich and illustrious as well - appreciate the heads up on the bar scene - thats kinda where i was getting at as well.

I prefer fort lauderdale. Its located right between west palm beach and miami so you have pretty easy access to both.

Boca is nice too though. It's kinda upscale so the people can be a little snooty, but if you don't mind that its a nice clean place to live.

good luck, and congratulations man on the new set up!

That's why we call'em Boca Bitches!

I gotta say, if I were to move it would be more south. Like on the Ft. Lauderdale/Boca line, I think that's Pompano? I'm pretty sure. It seems pretty bad ass down there.

Ohh, also, West Palm is not rich. Just Palm Beach, that's an island. Everyone else here just thinks they are rich, but aren't. That and alot of Haitians!

Less money in Boca?? You have lost your damn mind. On top of that you will have a 2 hour drive south and north to get to work.

If you are going to be working in Miami, Pembroke pines is a good place. Very yuppie, and close enough to Miami, yet still far enough away.
