DVD Review: "The Great Raid"
2 stars.
Cleverly disguised rip off of the classic "Back to Bataan". "Based on true events"; I.E. the rescue of American POWS by US Rangers towards the end of WW2. Not enough violence, to much "human interest', no tittys. It did however, make me hate the Japanese even more which is good. Fullscreen DVD: 20 bucks. Widescreen Special Edition: 40 bucks. WTF???? Interesting how the bitches exploited those of us with 16x9 tvs by charging double for the widescreen version. Fucking commies. |

and why would you expect titties in this movie? (not that i have anything against breasteses, i'm just asking...) |

It takes place in the Phillipines for fucks sake. If they were gonna set half the fucking plot of the movie in Manilla which is no where NEAR the POW camp, then they could have tossed in at least ONE gratuitous tit shot. |
ill have to check it out

Ahhh in all seriousness not a bad movie at all.

I saw it at the movies. I actually enjoyed this WWII film despite the mediocre to poor reviews it recieved. It's a prison war camp movie like "Stalag 17". I don't know why you'd expect a lot of action. I wasn't. However for those of you who do like action, there's a very good sequence at the end when the Rangers storm in and save the POWs. I'd give this movie *** out of *****.
And I agree, the prices for this movie seem rather high. At Best Buy it's $30 bucks for WS and $16.99 for FS (online). Not sure what in-store price is. If it's higher, that's terrible. |
I might check out the DVD soon but I am not expecting much from the movie.
