IONIC BREEZE or other air purifiers

what is ur experience with them?

what is a good one to get?

I've heard mixed reviews. Some say they are a scam some say they help. A employee at Radio Shack told me they are worthless. I've never been able to make up my mind to buy one.

I have a couple, and they do make a huge difference.

My office which usually smells of cigs and smoke, no longer does.

I'd get the newest ionic breeze since it has an ozone control now. Only issue with the older ones is that they produced a lot of ozone I think. New ones are better for like $350 or so. I need to order one of those suckers.

My mom has a couple at her house. She swears it helps with her allergies.

The Ionic Breeze is a scam but one hell of a marketing job pulled off by Sharper Image! Not only does it not work, studies have found that it actually emits dangerous ozone into the air. I read somewhere that the Sharper Image was facing a HUGE class action lawsuit based on this.

For all the suckers that spent that kind of loot on an air purifier before doing any research, you deserved to get taken! That was a lot of money to spend on something that not only didn't work but did opposite of what the ads stated. Hats off to Sharper Image though, they are marketing wizards for getting people to actually buy the shit!!!

Read More at ConsumerReports.com (do a search for the ionic breeze). You can also find reports from other consumer watch group sites.

MASSIVE OWNAGE!!!

Sharper Image pays $525,000 to end lawsuit against CU

Sharper Image Corp. has ended a product-disparagement lawsuit that it brought against Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, paying CU court-ordered attorneys? fees and costs totaling $525,000.

Sharper Image sued after Consumer Reports judged the company?s Ionic Breeze Quadra air cleaner ?ineffective? in an October 2003 report. A U.S. District Court dismissed the suit, ruling that Sharper Image had not shown our findings to be false. Because Sharper Image?s claims affected CR?s rights of free speech and press, the court ordered the company to pay our legal expenses. Sharper Image filed an appeal but later withdrew it, ending the legal action.

?Sharper Image?s decision to withdraw its appeal puts an end to a lawsuit that should never have been filed, over reviews that were truthful, carefully researched, and fairly stated,? said Jim Guest, president of Consumers Union. ?This is a victory for every American concerned about the rights of an unbiased organization to test products independently, and to speak out in the interest of product performance and quality.?

Rob, thats an old report.

The *only* issue with them was that they emitted ozone. The new model has an ozone control, and converts ozone to oxygen..

Fuck, good thing my Ionic Pro's were only 100 bucks each. :(

Seriously though, my sister with allergy problems noticed a huge difference. Even before I told her I got one.

I would still be skeptical about them. :2 cents:

They are marketing whiz kids and quite frankly, I still don't trust them. They suckered in hundreds of thousands of people with their claims and now they simply added an "Ozone Converter" after they got called out by the CU? How much more are they charging for that converter?

My dad taught me something a long time ago and it still rings true; Once a theif, always a theif.

Screaming 12-19-2005 08:44 AM

I thought about getting 1.

Tom_PM 12-19-2005 08:50 AM

Rob, it costs the same as the top model that didnt have it, and I believe it's earned some new allergy approval seals, or clean air something or other seals that it didnt have before.

I was going to get one before all the ozone info came out, and decided to wait. Now the new model has some changes and seems to be eliminating the higher ozone too, so I dont know.

All I know is I need something in this house in the winter with everything all closed up.. and I rent, so a whole house unit is out of the question.
