HELP! Problems with Windows Media Encoder.

Please help. When trying to encode a divx file to wmv with Windows Media Encoder I get a green line in the right end of the picture. This has never happened before, and I've tried with clips that worked fine in the past. Any ideas? Upgraded divx a few days ago, can this be the cause?

Thank you very much for any help on this :)

happened to me before too also on older divx versions and I never found out what it was...

Why dont you encode WMV directly from the source?

Crap, then it's probably something with divx then...

It is ripped from DVDs and we got the best result when ripping to divx, then using virtual dub to produce the scenes, and then encoding those to wmvs. Use divx for the large file and wmv streaming for the small in the members area. Has worked perfectly until now :)

its def something with divx and weird thing is Ive only seen it a lot with analog cams, but Adobe or VD it doesnt matter both had it...

Ive also had it on a DV cam just one so its prolly something with the codec, try ripping uncompressed for a few secs and coding it to WMV see if its gone

I should never have upgraded... Why does it always go to hell after you upgrade some software? :disgust Anyone else experiencing this problem? And hopefully have a solution on how to fix it?

DutchTeenCash 12-19-2005 07:09 AM

Im still using 4.1 to encode, there are a LOT of members who stick to 4.1 and never upgrade. Found out when we upgraded and received a shitload of mail complaints they saw green blocks.

Anna_O 12-19-2005 07:13 AM

Never even thought about that they had to upgrade too... Thought it did that automatically. Crap. Maybe we should try to find an old version and install that again...

Anna_O 12-19-2005 07:15 AM

:disgust It's definately something with divx yes, just tried an mpeg and no green line

DutchTeenCash 12-19-2005 07:19 AM

Now it works again. Found an old version of 5.2.1 that we used before and now it runs like a charm.

Also big thanks to thinkx for your help :)
