Anyone have a Roomba?
I'm thinking about getting one. How do you like it?

iRoomba? no

Yep we have 3 of them, they rock :thumbsup
The ONLY problem with them is that you need to make sure they are cleaned regularly i clean ours once a month and replace the brushes on them every 2 months. I love just hitting the remotes at night before i head of to bed and waking up to a clean house every morning :) You just gotta be carefull when its working in places like a bedroom, if there are any spare socks laying around itll suck them up and die until you pull the sock out LOL Regards, Lee |
had one took it back
its ok its not a vacumer, nice for small dust but like Lee said be careful, I wouldnt let it in my office. It does do rugs and other surfaces but you gotta keep it clean, theres an alternative several actually a lot higher in price that are real vacumers, around 2k though |

All the wires got packed behind our desks, including all the router wiring, cd player, tv etc, you gotta be careful with mouse wires especially if they are those shitty ones HP packages with new machines as if the wire is slightly on the floor the damn thing will suck it up LOL Im also looking at pre-ordering their new one that does tile floors for the Florida room, kitchen and bathrooms. I just wanna get one cuz it's a cool gadget IMO. I might try and program it. I dunno if I should just get the entry level one (the red one) or a better one. Are the higher priced ones really much better?

We had one of the red ones a year or two back and they caused nothing but trouble, we were constantly on the phone with support trying to get spare parts sent out. You should probably consider buying the replenish kit and a spare battery for each unit you do get to that way, one can be charging while another is in use in case you have larger rooms like us. we have five cats and a dog at the house, with mostly tile floors. We got a Roomba as a housewarming gift from my folks and it KICKS ASS. If you have pets, there's no better way to stem the constant tide of animal hair.
Highly recommended. Chris - ATKCash |
We have a Roomba discovery named Roger. He kicks ass!
Make sure and empty out his filter after each use and pull any lint off the brushes. My house is all tile with some rugs and we have 2 dogs. I try to turn Roger on in a diiferent room each morning. |
Yes, I have the Discovery model(from ARS points actually) With the first one, a plastic linkage part had become stripped(probably more from leaving shoes out and the vacuum grabbing the laces. But they replaced the whole unit except for the battery.
Now I need a replacement battery. I like it alot, the fact that it picks things before they get ground in is the best part for me- Just turn it on when I leave and come back to clean floors. I like it. As posted above, the cleaning and maintenance is pretty important. |
They look cool, but I'm holding out untl they make one that does dishes and picks up my clothes from the dry cleaners.

What is this thing again?

We got a Roomba via Lightspeed's Rewards...
Thanks Lightspeed! :thumbsup The wife hasnt had to vacuum since. We have a cat... the cat drags a little cat liter out of his box, and leaves bits and peices of food around his bowl... turn the roomba loose, and come back 5 to 10 minutes later, its clean. IRobot is coming out with the SCOOBA.... cleans wood floors, and tile, linoleum, etc.... Robotic cleaning machines are the future of vacuums. At first, I was skeptical.... I thought the roomba was a gag, but ive been enlightened. Just like everyone said... you have to clean the brushes and filter screen..alot, but its still cool as hell. If you got alot of clutter, rugs, chords and crap laying around... forget it. You have to be a person that doesnt like clutter. If you got pets that shed alot..... roomba is highly recommended just to keep the fur to a fraction.. :) I liked it so much, I bought one for my mom for christmas. :2 cents: :2 cents: |
