Who here is shooting in HD? What camera would you suggest and why?
 

I am curious as to what all is out there and the balance between cost and usable features. What camera(s) would you suggest one look at if they wanted an HD camera? Is it all about the Sony's or do the Panasonics have some hidden goodies no one is talking about? Spam me with your opinions and experiences.

HDV-Z1U is better becasue you can get 24p

Yeah, leaning very heavily toward that camera specifically for that option.

If your in Vegas and Going to CES check out the Panasonic HVX200, this camera is the shit!!!!! Sony's first entry into handheld HD is nice but the quality of the panasonic will blow you away. It has features of the 100k HD cameras with less than 1/10th the price. Google it and see the buzz this thing is making, it will be released on Dec 29th and should take handheld HD to a new level.

That's why I added Pany to my original post, I figured there was some people out there really shopping around and finding better cameras for the money. Thanks for the confirmation, will definitely check it out.

First off HDV is not HD no matter how many time sony says it is. Wait Wait til the at least the gens start to come out. at least 40% of america is still on dial up your wasting money.

same here, is HD an advantage if the end use if web video, given the current surfing speeds?

in other words, does it really "look" better at the same file size and same encoding parameters?
