I've been working on a relatively new site this last week & half & pr prediction tool is predicting a pr 4. what steps can I take to get it to 6, or even 7. I know continuos link trading will help. any other thoughts.

Anyone know what year googles next pr update is

dropped9 12-17-2005 09:29 PM

what tool are you using?

Doctor Dre 12-17-2005 09:34 PM

Going from Pr4 to Pr5 is fairly easy. Anything above that is really hard

trade a-b-c, not reciprocal.

MrChips 12-17-2005 09:36 PM

PR doesnt matter that much - its the way you structure your internal pages which causes rank these days.

Lookin for PR ? Give up - it went out with square wheels.

on-topic backlinks are 10x more important than content.

It matters as far as some people trading with others.
For example, I've seen posts asking for links & trades where webmaster says won't link anything with pr lower than 3.

thats because the webmaster doesn't understand PR. toolbar PR is only updated once every 3 months or so. real PR updates continuously. a few good (and i mean cnn.com good) backlinks could change a site from a pr1 to a pr6 in a day. but that change won't show up for months on the toolbar.

What he said! If you want to increase the relevancy of your site, get some quality links back to you.

See, my original train of thought was to link trade only with sites in the same niche, & so this webmaster on icq was asking for a trade & I told him no because it was a different niche & that it would hurt my rankings, then he tells me he does SEO & that it won't hurt pr or ranking /serps because adult is adult & that it don't matter if it's niche specific, even though I think it does matter, him being "SEO pro", I said yeah, ok & added his link.

What do you think about that, or anyone else want to add some thoughts on this.

I think there's about 300 people on here calling themselves SEO pros. If anyone (and no one has) mastered google SEO, they wouldn't be wasting time trading links. It'd be much more effective to just give the right people $500-50000 for the link they need, and move on.

Explain ABC

have a link on site A poiting to site B and link on site B ponting to site C
instead of having recip. links - heard that one many times before

at least that's what I think he meant - I'm a SEO master too, I get about 40 hits from Yahoo on a good day ;)

Marshal 12-18-2005 12:40 AM

as much as i know A-B-C is much better than recips... do not make recips on the same C class. A->B, or B->A, but not at the same time, this would damage your rankings drastically...

were you looking for this one? Google Page Rank Update List

That's what they are saying..

But when I buy a new domain, I make immediate backlinks from my other domains, who are all hosted on the same IP (virtual account)... and I always get a PR2 on the next update..

Although Im not an SEO - I do pretty well for myself and others - but I would stick to your original idea and link trade with "on-topic" sites and specifically niche pages.
I dont care if someone calls themself a pro - if the first thing out of their mouth is that they require a certain level of PR (toolbar or whatever tool they use) to trade - I immediately turn the other direction and delete them from my icq list. They obviously don't know what they are doing.
If they insist that a certain type of linking is required such as A-B-C or whatever - I also take them off my list as they also dont know what they are doing - they are just regurgitating what they heard on a SEO board somewhere.

Added - yes the real PR does update every day

Basic_man 12-18-2005 07:40 AM

So Linkster, what I need to tell you to get a link? :D
