Question: Gift or Cash?
I've never really been in a position before to give Christmas gifts or bonuses to employees and although I don't have any employees now...I do have an awesome hair/makeup girl that I work with exclusively and a terrific photo-assistant. Both of them have worked their asses off for me this year and have helped me to get a lot of attention and a lot of business. I'm undecided if I should buy them a gift for Christmas or give them a nice Christmas bonus (CA$H). I know it was always nice when I was working for a company to get a nice cash bonus and the cash always came in handy about this time of year. What do you guys suggest?

If you know something they can use get them that. If not, you can't go wrong with a cash bonus
I say cash
One of those VISA gift cards that work anywhere VISA is accepted.
(oh, and answer my icq messages...) |
cash for me
Definately cash...i LOVE getting my christmas bonuses...as does everybody else that recieves them

With employees or people on a payroll I have always given cash. Typically at least one months pay is what I do.
If you are going to give a good amount of $$ than give cash if not then you better buy a gift that will look expensive.
Yea - keep in mind that this is not an "employee/employer" relationship. We are all freelance people including myself. I don't expect to receive any gifts from my clients and perhaps these guys don't expect to receive anything from me ( I am one of their clients ) - I don't know. I just think that I'd like to do something for them because they have been a big part of my success and I want them to know that I appreciate them.

i always prefer cash or giftcards. then i can get something i definitely need or want.
Cash in a nice card thanking them for all the help this year. Hint that without their work that business wouldnt have been as good as it was and this is to show your appreciation
Cash is always good
i'll say cash...they can get or buy what they want thru your cash ;)
Cash, of course ...
Thanks for your input folks :thumbsup

Nothing beats cash

Take them out for dinner and drinks and after the new year give them a slight increase in pay. Cash seems cheezy. They aren't your kids. :1orglaugh

I think I've gotten a good feel for what I want to do. Thanks again for your input :thumbsup |
Cash is a bit unpersonal for someone that is not a employee on a payroll
gift certificate. best of both worlds :)
Gift for me :)
I like the giftcard idea.
I personally like cash a lot more then gift certificates... I have like 2x 100$ restaurents gift certificates and a ikea gc that have been sitting here since last xmas
If you know what she likes ... maybe you can go for the GC. I personally like to get a gift better ... but you gotta have the right gift for the right person
