Nice accidentally discovered party food recipe

I'm having a party tonight and I decided to go a bit of the posh path and make hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries.

I was melting the cholate with a double boiler (mock up) over the stove and it just wouldn't really melt the way I liked it and I figured I needed some liquid. I didn't have any milk around so I decided to splashin a bit of baileys and see how it turned out.

Two thumbs up to chocolate and baileys dipped strawberries. Fantastic.

Judging by how there weren't any left within 15 minutes of the party starting I would say they went down well.

That sounds damn good - The cherry liquour is good as well (Kirsh ?sp) - but only if you like dark choc.

Baileys is good with anything that has high percentage of chocolate or milk in it.

Milk. I bought a high quality chocolate bar and just melted it down a bit with some splashes of baileys over the stove. Do the double boiler method. To me that means having water boiling in one pot while you are melting the chocolate in another one sitting on or being held just above the water.

I did another batch where I added a little milk as well as the baileys and that worked very well too.

Then I just dipped the strawberries and stuck them in the fridge for a few hours.

I had some left over so I dipped some marshmallows in it too and served them as well . It was a bit of a boozy fondue without the pot.

Thanks :)

Another recipe I tried tonight for the first time that went down well was 'Drunken Meatballs'. I think booze laced things was the theme for tonight.

That was:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup Bourbon
3-4 dozen cooked small meatballs

Combine the first three ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes, until well blended

Add meatballs and simmer, covered, for about 45 minutes

I doubled the recipe and it still worked well.
