This is an amazing discovery. Hopefully it will make people realize that skin color is meaningless. We're all the same.

The bottom line is this finding undermines all the racist horseshit used as justification to hate and dominate on both or all sides of the color scheme. Our physical differences are so minute in the grand scheme of things we could well be better classified as clones.

So everyone from the Nazi lovers to the Louis Farrakhanteers can all sit down and shut the fuck up.

Not to start shit, but there is more to race than skin colour - as in other physical differences. Because skin colour is one simple gene for example, it doesn't mean we are physically the same strength (take Chinese and West Africans for example). I am not saying (and don't believe) it necessarily carries on to intelligence in any great deal, but the finding of these gene means absolutely nothing, nor proves anything against those that might believe this.

Different races walked different evolutionary tracks, that is why some are stronger, some are weaker, some *may* be slightly smarter and some *may* be slightly less intelligent depending on their evolutionary environment, the environment beyond simply the part that effected their skin colour. Anyway, it's not a happy debate that anyone can win anytime soon, nor is it one I want to enter into.

They also proved years ago that there is ZERO difference between races when it comes to intelligence. The average person from each race group is about the same mental processing wise. Now that doesn't mean they are the same (schooling, area grew up in, way they were raised) but the idea that it matters not if you are white or brown or pink when it comes to the brain... that's fascinating.

It's the small things that matter. The general framework makes up most of the DNA, and only within that framework do viable variations exist. Remember, bonobos are 95% genetically equal to humans.

Between any two humans, the genetic variation will be about 0.1%. The difference between these two people could be dramatic, though. One could be a tall, well-built, intelligent man, while the other could be a short, badly built and rather stupid man. This large difference nevertheless lies in a very small genetic variation.

Now, race doesn't just reflect skin colour. It is a set of common characteristics shared by people of a shared ancestry. Race clearly has other aspects than just colour, as is exemplified by the higher rate of lactose intolerance and sickle cell disease among people of African descent than among Europeans, the higher rate of Tay-Sachs disease among Ashkenazy Jews than among other population groups, etc.
It is not unthinkable, and indeed not even unlikely, that race has an impact of certain human characteristics that are judge valuable or harmful.

It's important to see that, first, one needs to judge individuals by their own merits if one indeed recognizes human beings as individuals and, second, that any value judgement is by its very nature subjective.

Sorry, but you are mistaken on this matter. This is a highly controversial topic, and so far, results from different studies are mixed and contradictory.

That's entirely true, of course.

However, the study of racial genetic differences could prove very useful in fighting diseases with a higher incidence in certain racial groups, and because of that it would be almost immoral to refuse to acknowledge the possibility of their existence based on political correctness. I'm not accusing you of that, but it's something many researchers are guilty of.

I completely understand your motives, not questioning that at all. I can tell you're right into this and have reasons for your position.
