Hey Juicy, DEFINATELY get the Sportster Replay, it's the best. It got one installed in my vehicle a couple of weeks ago and I love it. The nice thing about it compared to the cheaper models is that you can pull the receiver out and pop it into a boom box or into a home docking station which is neat. It also has a 44 minute save feature for when you wanna hear a kick ass song over again :)

It says $169 there, I bought mine at a local radio shack for $149 (I'm sure other local stores sell it for the same cheaper price), plus it has a $50 mail in rebate, so it's only $99.

Chris 12-16-2005 08:27 AM

yo
cant you get it via the sirius website if you are a paying member?
if so - just get a car unit ( ony like 70 bux ) and just use the feed online

Shaft_1971 12-16-2005 09:18 AM

Hey Juicy - picking my up next week......gotta have my Stern.

EroticySteve 12-16-2005 09:36 AM

I don't think Howard will be on the Webcast. Right now I think they only webcast music and it's not the same as the live feed on the radio.

EroticySteve 12-16-2005 09:36 AM

Juicy,

Get the S50. It's the hotness.

Jayvis 12-16-2005 09:38 AM

I'll be buying one too specifically for Stern. :D

WebairGerard 12-16-2005 09:43 AM

Juicy, I just got Sirius so I can listen to Howard too. This is the one I got because of reviews, price and easy to go between car/home.

I got the Sportster, you can use it at home and in your car.

Sportster = old.

Starmate = new.

Get either the Starmate, or the S50, ignore the Sportster, and the Xact units. FYI.

Ignore the Sportster, BUT get the Sportster REPLAY (it's a brand new version) !! It's better than the Starmate because it has simple docking stations where you can just pop it off of one and onto another without reconnecting wires, plus a boom box, which isn't the loudest, but it's nice to have for when you're out camping. If you ain't gonna move it too often, you can get the Starmate. Pretty much if you're gonna buy a model, get the REPLAY versions because they're the newest and have the 44 minute rewind feature.

I do agree with people S50 IF you want an ultra portable unit, it is beautiful.

Starmate Replay is sold old, it's the more desired unit where I am. Local reps say it outsells the Sportster Replay by 3:1, due to the Sportster's lower capabilities.

The S50 is nice, but overpriced for a 1GB MP3 player (it can't get the live signal on the go, only when docked). Wait for the price to drop on that one, to more reasonable levels.

Actually, if you look at the features/capabilities, they're pretty much the same -

Starmate Replay -

Replays 44 minutes of content (pause, rewind and fast-forward)
5-line wide-screen graphic display
4-way navigation button
30 channel presets with preset scan
100-frequency wireless FM transmitter with FM preset button.
Satellite-updated clock
Game Alert Prompts when your favorite teams play and score
Game Zone Lists your favorite teams? scores on one screen
Jump Button provides one-touch access to traffic and weather for your city
S-Seek alerts for up to 30 artist names and/or song title combinations

Sportster Replay -

Replays 44 minutes of content (pause, rewind and fast-forward)
Rewind and fast-forward by song or time
Search and choose songs from the Replay List
Quick access to live programming
6-line graphic display
30 channel presets
Wireless FM transmitter with 100-frequency choices
Game Alert - Prompts when your favorite teams are playing at start of game and when scores change
Game Zone - Lists your favorite teams? scores on one screen
Jump Button - One touch to traffic and weather reports for your city or tune to your favorite SIRIUS channel

The biggest difference is that it's easier to jump your Sportster unit from vehicle to vehicle or home dock or boom box. The Sporster also has the S-Seek feature, even though it's not listed and it has a 6-line graphic display over the 5-line (that's no real biggie).

The Startmate might sell more, but that's probably because it's cheaper than the Sportster.

I guess that there's no point going on and on, ha ha. If you're happy with your Starmate Replay and I'm happy with my Sportster Replay and we're both enjoying Sirius radio, that's all that matters. People can do the research and see what they feel is best, right :thumbsup

I have that in my car and love it. When I get home from this road trip I am on I am going to get the home dock for it.
