Building a paysite? Here's a tip for ya...

Or you can just tell me to go fuck myself ofcourse. =] Alot of people know this advice already but there are always plenty of people getting started so here ya go:

Being that I've been doing development for people again, I've heard maybe a half dozen times in the last two weeks, "What kind of paysite should I build?" Everyone wants to analyze which niche is doing best or where there is a lack of coverage for a genre. Too often people want to think they are creating something that's totally new and unique and try to out-clever themselves. At the end of the day, it's not reality TV - people just want something hot enough to get turned on and masturbate to. Anyway here's the free tip:

Build the site you'd be a fan of yourself. Fuck how many others like it there are or not. Just do what you get. If you're into MILFs, build a MILF site. If you like lesbian action do that. I don't care how competitive the market is for it because if you build one you understand as a consumer yourself, then you will be ahead of 95% or more of your competition. A webmaster who isn't into say feet would have no idea which pics to use on a tour or which scenes are worth buying. Build a site that makes you want to whack off and you have a site that will sell.

Great post. As a designer, sometimes I have to cover a niche that I am not as familiar with as I'd like to be so I have to do some research into "what sells" for that niche before I can really get started. Building my own stuff though, I am always more inclined to go with stuff that would turn me on anyway as I can readily pic the best looking pics and arrange it in a way that I know would make my dick hard. Good advice man.

Yeah, when you're doing design for others that really becomes the conundrum doesn't it? I try to keep a good range of people I work with who are into different things and I keep data on everything I can think of that helps. If the client is having you make a site for a niche they are into though, then their direction will be enough as you put up the sample deliverables.

This goes for any project you do in this business ... nobody can convert gay like gays.

Good advice.

I'd add focus on unique fetish niches. The guys that are really stuck on one particular fetish will pay anything to fulfill their fantasies.
