Are you trustworthy? Are you loyal?
Those are the questions.
Again.... Are you trustworthy? Are you loyal? |
trustworthy and loyal all the way...unless there is no love the other way
then im a vicious dog |
I'd like to think so.
My friends think so. My business relationships think so. Good question. I wonder if anyone would answer 'no'. |
what do you consider trustworthy and loyal?

Trustworthy and loyal go hand in hand.
I don't think there are levels of trust and loyalty. I think that real success is gauged in large part on how your success was earned. If you are successful in business or life by selling out those around you to reac your goals. |
Why yes, I am!
:) Brad |
I don?t think anyone would say no but it all depends on the circumstances. If your neck is on the line then I am sure a lot won?t be loyal but in normal situations I think most people are.

Very trustworthy and loyal. See sig and my site please :thumbsup

To a point. Under torture everyone has their limit.

Of course from time to time people don't respect these things but in the long-run the good guy does win. |

You can get farther by helping people up rather than selling them out. |

If I trust you, and am loyal to you and you screw me over, should I then just nod my head and continue to trust you and be loyal 'unconditionally'? I don't think so! :error Trust is easily given at the start of a relationship, but once it's been lost it is that much HARDER to regain. Loyalty is a little different, sometimes we remain loyal to those who do us wrong, but then there are usually 'circumstances' that must be considered for those type of breaches. I give my trust willingly, loyalty's a little different to me, and I only give that to those who I feel deserve it (family, friends, the company I work for, etc) I believe it is better to believe in people and have to be proved wrong than to NOT believe in people and live a bitter suspicious/paranoid life cos you can't trust anyone! But in no way whatsoever will I give my trust unconditionally, I feel that would be naive and open the door to being used/abused/walked over by whomever you've given that gift to! (and no, that's not paranoia, it's realism) So I'll be trusting, but smart about it! If I'm shown that I shouldn't trust someone, there's no way I'll keep giving it 'unconditionally'. Of course, I'm not saying trust can't be rebuilt, but it's usually a LONG process. It's not like when you love your kids/family, where no matter what they do you'll love them anyway (unconditionally) cos they're your kids/family - loyalty and trust offer incredible strengths but they can also be easily shattered into many fragments. :2 cents: |

I think you raised a good argument. I still say that you'll have some people who WILL screw you over in life. They are low-life people without regard for trust or respect, in time they'll get theirs, since it's a Karmic world we live in. But just because someone does screw you over or sell you out, what should you do in return? Should you go out of your way to put the hurt on them? Should you let anger get the best of you and retaliate and break a bond of trust that you made to them? If you do that, does it make you any better of a person? Or did you let emotions now control your core and make you a disloyal person? What I should have added is that in trust and loyalty should be unconditional given a completely reciprocal share of trust and respect. |

For me it all depends on the individual circumstances - if it's a minor breach then I would give that person another try, albeit with much more limitations (to begin with anyways) on how much I'll trust them. If it's a major breach I will probably just cut them out of my life and say 'good riddance to bad rubbish' and move on (unless I'm given a serious reason not to). It doesn't need for me to DO anything, just make sure I'm not opening myself up to a world of hurt by being naive. Then again, if someone I trusted did something unbelievably terrible to my family (like killed my kid or anything of that seriousness) I'm not sure the rules would stay the same. It's all a matter of degree and circumstance. Even those with the highest moral fibre can crack when people they believe in break those bonds of trust. |
props and respect.
I don't believe in retaliation either. I trust those who are trustworthy unconditionally. There are many people who are not trustworthy, I do not trust them but I may be loyal to them just the same. Trust and loyalty while they work hand in hand are two separate entities. Quote:

Nice thread Steve - especially this time of year when we are all summing up 2005 and planning on where we will direct our energies and our business in 2006.
I think trust and loyalty have less to do with how one acts, although that is the manifestation - than that they are two of a handful of qualities that define who you ARE. |

Bill Gates for example, I hope that he gives away his fortune down to the last dime, he didn't propel his company honorably, at least that is how it was depicted in Pirates of the Silicon Valley. I am loyal and trustworthy. Many people confide their secrets with me because they know that I do not pass judgement, nor would I divulge these secrets. I'm not vengeful or angry, just an all around good person who gets ahead by being smart, and good. |
