Want to Work in Baghdad, Iraq? The Gov't WANTS YOU!!!!

This is just so enticing, I'm itching to sign up ... too bad I'm not American:

http://careers.state.gov/opportuniti...ttoexpect.html

Here's some exerpts on requirements once you relocate:

Employees will work and reside within the "International Zone" - an area of approximately five square kilometers, about 6 miles from the Baghdad International Airport (BIAP)

(aka you may as well wear a sign on your back saying "Take Me Hostage")

Travel/Transportation to Post
The logistics support contractor transports employees to the military side of the Kuwait airport. Meal tickets will be provided. The logistics support contractor will issue a helmet and protective vest. There is usually a long wait and departure schedules are not published due to security concerns. Luggage is palletized. Employees must carry their helmet and vest on the plane and wear them during the trip into Baghdad. Only one briefcase or small backpack can be hand-carried onto the C-130 aircraft in addition to protective gear.

(Does a helmet and vest protect me from suicide car bombs?)

Weather
Employees should plan for hot summers and moderately to definitely cool and rainy winters. Summer evenings can be chilly. The Embassy Annex is air-conditioned and remains cool throughout the summer. Unfortunately, the heat during the winter months can be problematic. Fine dirt and dust is the norm, circulated by regular dust storms.

(Umm, please define "problematic")

Housing
Nearly all 3161 employees are housed in modular units on the heavily guarded and fortified Embassy Annex compound. Post will make every effort to ensure that each permanently assigned employee on a one-year tour of duty is the sole occupant of one room, sharing a bath with the occupant of the other room in the modular unit.

(One year sharing a crapper ... doesn't sound so bad until your roomie has his first Iraqi meal)

I hope it pays well ...
:Oh crap

I doubt it, but you do get to share a bodyguard with your roommate for local trips to the bakery, beauty salon and fruit market.

Friend of mine did it. He got paid $110k tax free for 1 year drivin a truck over there.

Said he saw some crazy shit but then again he was a former marine and always carried a side arm. Hes back now and said the money came in handy, fixed a few "boo boos" hes done in his life but wouldn't return.

I almost signed up last year, some private companies were offering up to 100K a year for different jobs, (yea, the ones where you got taken hostage).

100K isn't very useful when an insurgent is holding an AK-47 to your head!!
