Internet tax from Italy being pushed by a U.S. senator

From Utah Jim Mattheson (D-UTAH) Notice its not a Republican folks. DEMOCRAT! Wants to add a 25% tax and more of the age verification crap. Tried to cite that the largest percentage of of paying porn cutomers are age 12 to 17. WTF is this guy smoking? Another one trying to get the government to do the parenting. Ridiculous. Stuff like this pisses me off.

ProjectNaked 12-15-2005 12:01 AM

if it passes in italy, they will try to pass a tax here -

kenny 12-15-2005 12:06 AM

WASHINGTON(AP)- Senator Tom Carper is calling for a tax on all Internet pornography.

The Delaware Democrat is proposing a 25 percent tax on the purchase of pornographic material online.

The collected tax money would go to a fund to help police prosecute online child pornographers.

The provision is part of the Internet Safety and Child Protection Act.

In addition to the fund, the bill would require online pornographers to use age-verification software to block children's access.

Carper says the bill will keep kids away from X-rated material.

I'm guessing a US porn tax will only effect US citizens though.

TheDoc 12-15-2005 05:06 PM

tony286 12-15-2005 05:12 PM

In Italy its not on the net only stores. I would passit on to the customer let them get pissed , then I would tell them write your congressman. It would wake people the fuck up

I like your attitude - I feel the same way. I can't figure out how porn gets tied into "sin"

kenny 12-15-2005 05:19 PM

Italian government is always so stable.

tony286 12-15-2005 05:32 PM

it may suck but the difference is the democrat is saying lets tax it not like the republicans lets throw them all in jail

Aric 12-15-2005 05:46 PM

They need a poor parenting tax.

I love how the government exploits children to push their agendas.

The democrats and republicans both have done their fare share of fucking with our industry.

Isolating one side and demonizing it isn't going to change itone way or the other.

There is no political party on our side - that is just how it is

Project-Shadow 12-15-2005 06:27 PM

Fucksakes, just tax all the churches 25% of all donations to fund their anti-cp shizer. It's all the priests I tells ya.

That 12-17 figure was cited from a bullshit report. The people who wrote it didn't conduct their own research. They just cited other sources. One of which was a website belonging to an affiliate of a parental controls sponsor, and the bullshit claims he made in an attempt to get parents to buy it. Yes, he was actually cited as a source.

We can definitely conclude that the 12-17 number is incorrect because American traffic reports debunk it. If kids made up at least 50% of porn surfers, then we would see drastic drops in traffic during school hours and when they are in bed. This simply is not the case. Traffic patterns actually show that the vast majority can't be school students.

xmas13 12-15-2005 06:53 PM

a silly tax to hire hundreds of lazy democrat bastards in a fucking association that will spend 80% of its budget in "operation expenses" :Oh crap

could also be a tax to seduce part of GOP electors :disgust

am sure the senator is a regular X rated website client :321GFY

Matt 26z 12-15-2005 07:04 PM

This won't pass in the US for the same reason .xxx is being held up. It legitimatizes the industry.

You can't have obscenity prosecutions to shut sites down while at the same time depending on those same sites to generate tax dollars to fight CP. It just doesn't make sense, and the anti-adult porn people will always win. So this won't pass.

warlock5 12-15-2005 07:14 PM

god damn mormans
