Live.com possible google.com killer
ok i know a lot of die hard google.com users will say no, as well as anyone who is anti microsoft (never understood those people) will bash it without even checking it out. but go and look at live.com
anyway, it's still in beta but i think it has a lot of potential to take on google and all there addons. i'm waiting on my live email account supposely it's like outlook online, a mobile mail feature is coming too, local.live.com maps are better that google... it just looks like google.com better not take microsoft lightly. yeah a lot of people hate microsoft but they have the money, control of your OS (the can make a windows update just to benefit there live.com service) the money, and the history of dominate the market. p.s. i'm getting more hits for msn than google lately. a few others have posted about that too. must be all those msn.com commercials that are shown every 30mins |
google is still pushing better than 8:1 more queries than msn. they're doing fine. but i agree they had better keep on their toes, the barrier to entry for another player is very low. once upon a time we all used altavista, and one day i switched to google. google had better be careful not to become the next altavista.

it doesn't look user friendly. Even I am confused.

looks like they still have a lot of bugs to fix over there.
|
Problems:
1. (most major problem) Takes for fucking ever to load. 2. Definitely not user friendly at all. 3. No real content. Microsoft already lost the search bot wars...why even try again? |
i've said it once and i'll say it again. give microsoft time. they will squash google in their next OS release by integrating their search into every single feature. 2 years and people won't remember what googling is.
|
I think it is easy to use and will kick ass. i predit they will have 30% of the market by 2007
|
google SUCKS lately...period...
they are trying so fucking hard to fight spam it is hurting real results......if they don't get their shit under control soon i think it will affect their user base I am getting way more productive traffic off organic results on msn and yahoo.... |

just like altavista in '98 ;) |

I agree with most of you. Things are changing so rapidly. I've always used yahoo and they are very close with google. Depends on what your searching for though.

And Google, imo, is good for arcane searches and neat advanced techniques but it's so full of spammy listings for just about every popular search ... it's becoming less and less relevant all the time. |
Would you like to trade links with your rating site?

the new ie7 has msn search bar integrated into the browser so they are trying to dominate def.
but then again word is google has its own browser and os in the works. |
I remember webcrawler.com even before altavista was popular...
But I agree with everyone here, spam is getting to be so bad that google is becoming more and more obsolete. If only there was some magical way of getting rid of spam... :( |
Peoiple laughed when M$ went into the gaming market with the XBOX.
Now look 2 years later. SONY has a serious rival. Do not under estimate the power of the dark side. |
