Stupid me: I am already afraid of flying and looking fatal plane crashes alaska airli
airlines
Alaska flight 261 I am so suprised how calm the pilots stay. Yeah they are trained, but there is a difference between training and the reality. Also didn't help me that they kept saying to the ppl in the plane everything is ok:) That is the only thing that makes me calm in a plane haha. I have no idea why I am so afraid of flying tho. I mean looking at this, makes me so happy I am not flying the next month. However, when I look at car crashes, I don't feel "anything" , and after seeing it I happily drive my car. I do know that flying is saver as well. Oh well, Andre |
I saw it aswell, turned it off. Since i'm flying in a few weeks for 10+ hours, not sure why as there most likely every second a airplane takes off and airplane crashes are rare nowadays
|
reminds me Rainman ......"they never crash"
|
It does not help that most planes are about to fall apart in mid flight.
Most Airlines are Bankrupt that should tell ya plenty right there. |

But yeah you are right, it also would help for ME, when they would hang camera's in the cockpit, and we could see this... Andre |
2 years ago I was driving past the airport of Alicante when I noticed a plane
landing and inmediately take off again......after the second time it did this I stopped the car found a good place near the runway (safe distance) and sat there with my camera to see the damn plane land and take off at least 16 times. I was sure I was going to witness a big crash.....when the plane landed I could see the faces of the people inside the plane in utter fear. The people on that flight must have shit their pants of fear. So here I was all ready waiting to shoot live pics from this crash......another few tries passed and all of a sudden the fucking plane lands and just stops.....no crash, no near crash not even a little skidding or sliding.....it just plain stopped. I sat there for a good 2 hours watching this plane try to land. I was already calling people to call newspapers and news shows to sell the live pics that I was going to shoot..... I was glad for the poor people who sat inside the plane while this occured but I was pissed like hell that this thing never crashed and I've wasted 2 hours of my life waiting for a crash that never happened. It was the biggest anti-climax in my life.....I was all hyped up, adrenaline rushing through my system.....all for nothing.... anyway didn't try to scare peopel.....just reminded me of this anti-adventure and thought I'd share. :upsidedow |

Also even many planes do have certain issues, a crash is very very rare... That is what keep me flying :) Andre |
I've had a few occasions when I haven't been happy in a plane.
Latest was in 2004 when I came back from amsterdam, our pilot informs us that a landing gear won't deploy.. so we circled the airport for a good 45 minutes, but landed safely and I'd assume they fixed the problem :) Once I was flying to the cayman islands our plane landed and took off like 4 times, that's fucking horrible.. really. :) When I was like 10 and we were in New York, we took a Jumbo jet to LA, and after lift off the plane immediately turned like 45 degrees or more, and it looked like the wing would hit the ground (we were probably hundreds of feet in the air, but the sensation was enough to have me remember it until this day) |

view mirror. I could floor the throttle just in time and pull out to the grass seconds before a bigass truck slammed into the back of a volvo station wagon. The car I was driving was brandnew from the shop.....I was taking it for a test drive.....it wasn't mine. All I kept thinking is how I would explain it to the car dealer if it would have gone wrong. My pick would have been.....is calling the guy from a phonebox to inform that all airbags of the car were working they way they should do. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |

Well I had it with a car once. I had suddenly to stop on those farmer roads here where you can drive 60KM. I looked in the mirror and the car obviously did not brake. I also turned gear backwards, and then fast forward into the grass. Then that car did hit the other car(not very hard tho) But yeah, you are still in control. And please ppl stop with your personal horror stories about planes, I'm scared enough already :D Andre |
I had 2 incidents while I was inside a plane. Both were at flights I didn't fancy
to board onto in the first place......but at the time didn't have an option. Both were with the same russian airliner.....Aeroflot. Once I flew from Moscow to Prague.....during the flight the crew entered the cabin for drinks and chats. I shit you not they were drunk.....Aeroflot flights are a one of a kind adventure. People walking through the plane during take off and landing, loads of alcohol, noise and stuff going on all the time. The seats could be folded double....the back support part wasn't secured in any way. Anyway all of sudden there is starting somekind of commotion. The crew apperently forget the key to the cockpit area inside the cockpit and had locked themselfes out. After some time the demolished the door with a fire distinguisher. Those doors are pretty hard to break lol. The second time again I was flying from Moscow to Prague.....for some reason we heard the announcement that due to bad weather we couldn't land in Prague...we got diverted to Milan in Italy. While we were descending we enter this bigass black clouds....it turned pitchblack in the plane and it started shaking really bad.....lightning struck the plane multiple times. We could see the lightning fire in the windows circling like a fireball. The plane dropped into a freefall then leveled again but was shaking that I thought it would break....it sounded like they were pounding the plane with sledge hammers. after 2 minutes it got light everything eased down and we landed. Next morning in my hotel I read the newspaper and it had an article on the frontpage about my flight. Traffic control apperently told the crew no matter what DO NOT ENTER the storm clouds. The crew didn't understand the order and just flew straight in. I will NEVER EVER fly Aeroflot again as long as I live :disgust |

Andre.....do not be afraid. Airline travel is the safest way to fly. If it makes you feel any better remember that the last human to die in a plane crash was an 8 year old boy who was riding in his family car...he was not even on the plane.
Statistics show that you are statistically just as likely to die in a plane crash while you walk down the street as you are sitting in a seat on the plane. Think about it and relax....take a flight somewhere fun! It is well worth it. I hope this helps. --T |
I love flying. A few of my friends are pilots so I always use to go flying with them. If you think flying in a regular plane is scary, try flying in a single or dual engine planes. The rush you get is really amazing. We use to fly from Montreal to Ottawa play pool and then come back. Those were the days!
