Have you ever experienced a friend who is dying?

Good friend...known him over 25 years. He was diagnosed with ALS. He's going down fast. My heart is breaking...all my life, I have been in the position to help my family and friends thru crisis.

Be it money, but mostly my time and love. There is nothing now I can do for my friend outside of that. It's so fucking unfair.

We are spending as much time as we can with him now....he's not got long before he can't travel or do much anymore.

He will be going with my husband to the show in January...he'll probably be in a wheelchair. If you meet "Tim" at the show...please throw a good time towards this incredibly, wonderful and good natured guy.

He's as much family to you as he is to us....trust me

Sorry to hear that man, I have a friend who died in a car accident some years ago, it really hurts, my prayers are with you and your friend man.

That really blows

LiveDose 12-13-2005 10:03 PM

Sorry to hear about that.

I've had an extremely close friend die infront of me at the hospital.. it didn't even really sink in till the funeral that he was gone

SilentKnight 12-13-2005 10:09 PM

Your love and time with him is the greatest gift you can give, don't think for a second that it isn't.

Your compassion makes you a special person - and it sounds very much like he's very fortunate to have had you for a 25-year-long friend.

Best prayers. Hope he has a fabulous time at the show.

this is sad to hear...

Very sad. I watched my Father wither away to nothing. Best you can do is spend a lot of time with him, and give him some laughs, and some comfort.

Damn, that really sucks! My thoughts and prayers are with him. :(

Do you do hosting?

sonofsam, that sucks. I've had good friends die..I am much older than you and have been thru incredible tragedys as well. However, in most instances, they were friends who died in car accidents or other sudden deaths... older family members who have died at old age.

Never tho, have I had to watch a friend die. I really don't know to handle this. What a selfish fucking thought, eh?

What can I do? Is there anything I can do? I'm so at a loss. Honest to God, I'd give my right arm if it would save his life. I believe my friend will bear the pain and indignity of this horrible disease much better than I.

I'm just so incredibly sad right now....

Skillz Unlimited 12-13-2005 10:21 PM

I send out a prayer for him and for your pain.

Anthony, we encountered each other in a thread about a couple of months back. You were so kind to me...never forgot that.

No, I don't do hosting. I would paste the thread for you here but I'm too much a dingbat for that tonight. my apologies.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, we also experienced a dying mechanic friend. Actually he died in the hands of my brother because of lung complication.

i've actually watched 2 friends die...

the one in the hospital was something else though.. it was all just unreal, from when they took his mom into the side room to tell her that he wasn't breathing on his own and that he was already brain dead, and that eventually his body would just shut down...

she didn't even cry, she couldn't... she just had a pale look on her face like she wasn't even there.. but to this day, more then a year later she is a lost soul :Oh crap

we do our best to take care of her though, he was her only child and she was a single mom with no close family...

seems like life loves to kick you when you're down sometime... when it rains, it pours

best of luck to you and your friend throughout this hard time, and the only thing you can do is just spend a lot of time with your friend now..

Violetta 12-13-2005 11:38 PM

feel sorry for you and your friend! :(

PixeLs 12-13-2005 11:41 PM

Sory to hear that dude.. I never had that experience yet but I'm the pain can never be described.
