Show us your photo studio...
Just goin' through some old photoshoot archives this afternoon...and rediscovered this lighting test shot from last summer taken in our factory studio.
http://www.fetishopolis.com/kap-images/kamtm38.jpg The building is a 100-year-old factory originally built as a livery stable for the old horse-drawn milkwagons in town. Over the years it was eventually converted in to a bakery, and then later used mainly for cold storage warehousing. Although it has hydro, there's no water service or heat - so we only lease the building in the summer months when its warm enough to do photoshoots. The area where the table and suspension stand sits was where one of the large bakery ovens once stood. The green door leads to the former staff lunch room and washroom areas. To the right of the door is the stairwell that goes down to the main floor. Directly above where I stood with the camera are several large skylights that give great natural sunlight throughout the day - and as the sun sets the shadows play across the peeled paint textures of the walls and adds a great dramatic atmosphere to photos. Lately neighbourhood vandals have smashed the shit outta most of the remaining windows on the ground floor - so the owner will be forced to board them up very shortly. Rather a shame, since its considered somewhat of an historic old building. But ya' just can't beat 30,000 sq. ft. of open industrial space for $500/month. :) |

The place makes some rather creepy noises late at night when we're shooting, though. I've lost count of how many photoshoots I've interrupted to do a quick wander around the building after hearing odd noises. My wife says its haunted by dead milkwagon horses, lol. As for the props...I build most of 'em myself, although there's not many visible in these shots. We also have a huge 8-foot medieval stockade, assorted wooden racking, some crosses, etc. |
These are just a few sets we have in our NJ studio, sorry for the huge pics

Hmm...startin' to look like <crickets>
Am I to conclude the majority here on GFY are either surfers or affiliate promoters not operating their own studios? I'd enjoy checkin' out the studio setups of a few colleagues. There must be at least a few of ya's. |
