The two best quotes, EVER!

"Every man dies, not every man really lives."
- William Wallace

"It's better to try and fail than to have never tried at all."
- Michael Jordan

So many people in today's society are overwhelmed with anxiety and insecurities that they hold back and never really reach their full potential. The fear of failure holds so many people back that they never strive for better things and accept status quo because its comfortable to them.

Almost 100% of successful business men have failed in one or more of their attempts at business before they hit it big. Think about that.

And those who make it right away are most likely to go under once the shit eventually hits the fan.

Not only that but they don't appreciate failure and someone who doesn't appreciate failure will never fully appreciate success. :2 cents:

I must have started at least 10 companies before one finally became a success.

yeah i think anybody who is succesfull will say the same thing. It is more of a passion thing. Really! If you loose passion then it is over. Also I believe a great entrepreneur knows how to start and build a compnay quickly. Then knows when to get just as quickly too ;)

Many years ago a CEO told me he'd rather hire someone that's failed and learned from it than someone that's never tried.

Sorry for that one...

Skillz Unlimited 12-12-2005 10:36 PM

My old boss once told me, it's ok to make small mistakes because eventually you will get it right. If you make no mistakes that means you're not trying.

That is indeed a good one.

However, I can't really see that framed sitting inside someone's office. If I did, they would get all of my business for life just on shear principle alone. :thumbsup

pornguy 12-12-2005 10:46 PM

Then it must be my turn to hit it big. While I have not failed, I have not progressed to what I want.

It's said that Tom Watson, former IBM CEO, was asked if he was going to fire an executive whose recent mistake cost the company six hundred thousand dollars. Watson shook his head and explained, "I just spent six hundred thousand dollars training him. Why would I want anyone else to hire his experience?"

To a pessimist:
You failed 9 times out of 10

To an optimist:
You learned how to not run a business 9 times ... and that helped you finally accomplish success

Personally, I started 5 or 6 and a few other serious hiccups along the way.

The reality is, most people quit after round 1; Only those that are truly resilient and believe in themselves stick to it and refuse to accept failure.

at first the two quotes sound very cliche to me, but then I thought, its the cliche that makes more sense.

Whilst this is a very good 'quote' I think it is probably better attributed to Randall Wallace, the Braveheart Writer. William Wallace died 700 years ago and there is very little historical evidence of William Wallace remaining. :thumbsup

Linkster 12-13-2005 05:02 AM

I think they are referring to William Ross Wallace who was a poet in the 1800s and wrote that quote

quote of the manila philipines trip was wiseman to a couple of girls in his room some other guys ordered and he wanted out so he could sleep.

he said. " you're leaving", they said no - he said " you can leave by the door or you can leave by the window, me, I prefer the window, but it's your choice"

Sad thing is. That is SO VERY TRUE. See the pics of us with "ET" yet?
