Is this fucked up or what?
My ex-wife just called to inform me that she bought our daughter diamond earrings for Christmas. As she put it, "I know you were going to get some for her, but we did instead."
WTF? Am I taking it wrong, or is that kind of fucked up? Should I say fuck it and buy bigger diamonds, or should I just try and figure out something else to get her? |
you should ask your daughter what she wants instead of trying to outdo your ex.
IM sure she would be happy to spend time with her dad - but if you must do something, take her to disney with one of her friends... that is worth more than any diamond |
sounds like competition to me.
Get her something bigger & better & more expensive. |
Pretty funny that your ex feels the need to compete with you over your adult daughter, haha. Really, the best part is that your daughter is an adult. If I were you, I would just get her something else and blow off the whole situation. Your daughter really isn't going to want to hear about the petty games her mother is playing.
|
Ask your daughter first, maybe she is dreaming of something else...
|
thats bologna! i would defintiely ask your daughter what else she'd like and if she says she doesnt know, maybe buy her a diamond solitare necklace or something?!
|
Lol... fuck it.. give your daughter the same thing right before christmas, and another present actually ON christmas.. that way you definately win man...
|
talk to her...and ask for her needs...sometimes its better to give a good HUG and a 'simple' kiss, than a HUGE diamond...
|
Get her something nicer like something from LV
|
I'm sure you'll find the right answer here.. :)
|
buy her a ferrari, that will show the bitch
|
Sounds like its good she's a EX-wife, and though it is fucked up, just buy her something else cool... :pimp

it is fucked up since she knew thats what you were going to get her.
instead, get her something that goes with the earings, a necklace or bracelet that compliments them when worn together. be the bigger parent and do right by your girl, no need to sink to the ex's level and try to out do her |
Sounds like a spiteful ex. I would tell the ex you already bought diamond earrings too (even though you didn't), and make them sound like they cost ten times more than what your ex probably spent (so she can stew in those juices)...then get your daughter something else which you think she will like.

Agreed that it was to undermine you.
|
Aske her what she wants other than diamond and make sure to exceed what she expects from you.. :winkwink:
|
sounds like she is trying to one up you and make her (stepfather?) look better. fuck that shit. pathetic to do that to a father.
|
The thing that pisses me off is that she knew my daughter and I were going to the jewelry district so she could pick the diamonds, setting and all that (the ex went to a 60% off sale at Zales) so we had to plan the outing. It isn't like just a minor inconvenience, I have to tell my daughter we are not going for diamonds. The ex also knew that this would happen.
So, it turns out my daughter had already told her what she wanted and where to get it, she is a little miffed. We will find something else. Maybe pearls. |
Give your daughter some anti-diamond propaganda so it makes the mother look stupid.

I raised her Capitalist. |
why don't you take your daughter to some trip instead of buying her stuff?
or better ask her what she would really like to have... |

I would be the bigger preson and buy her something to compliment the earrings. Like a porsche.
|
Buy her some more, chances are she has plenty of holes in here ears and
she probably would like wearing some from both her parents at the same time. |

Time and caring are always the greatest gifts..... When you discuss future presents with your ex, be vague and undecided. She can't out do you or compete on that basis.
The trip to Disneyland will last a lifetime. Good suggestion. |

take the money and use it to spend quality with yer daughter . . . take a trip with her or something . . .you are much more important than earrings |

Write her a nice, long, honest letter, it doesn't matter if you're no poet, she'll treasure it more than any diamond. you are daddy and your ex knows she can't compete with that :thumbsup

That's really messed up man.

I say ask your daughter what she really wants. Screw your ex man she's just looking to out do you. But remember this, you can out do her by getting your daughter what she REALLY wants. How old is your daughter by the way?

Get her a fabergé egg. :thumbsup

Problem has been resolved. Ex gave them to her tonight, and she can't even get them in her ear due to some weird stud. Says they kept getting stuck. So she told her to take them back. Our trip to the jewelry district is back on.
An interesting side note: The receipt said 1/3 carat, but the warranty said 1/4 carat. No wonder it was such a deal. :) |

Just found a voice mail message from her saying she "did not know" what was going on.
Stupid psycho bitch. And my friends wonder why I dumped her. |

Get her a diamond neclace that goes with it. It's about her so team up her mom it will make her happy that you worked with her mom to get a matching set.
|
buy her a puppy! That will kick those earrings' ass ! :thumbsup
|
get her gum, girls love gum!
|
Ask your daughter what she wants for christmas, in that way you would be able to make her feel special and happy.

I see you got it worked out. I was going to suggest rubies or emeralds since those gems are worth more.
Personally, I prefer pearls. They take on a special luster when they come in contact with body heat. |
I get the same problem every year with my ex. they are exs for a reason.
