Are you the most successful member in your family?
Read title.
Is it important for you be a success in business and achieve more than your direct family (as in brothers and sisters etc.). Do you feel that it is your responsibility? What drives you forward apart from the $$$? |
Soon to be atleast :)
|
fuck no, my brother and sister are big time money maker.. they work in syndey and has SO MUCH MONEY i cry......
|
I am by far the least successful member of my family (and friends) :(
Everyone in my family has at least an MBA and several have doctorates and one a post doctorate. Most are bigwigs with large Fortune 500 companies except the wives with kids who are SAHM. I was the only female in my family to ever work outside the house when I had a child and mine's the only child who has ever been to daycare. Friends are doing even better - a few are CEOs and/or owners of NYSE listed companies and all make several mil a year. Again, all the women are SAHMs (with degrees, lol). I am a peon in my group :( |
money wise no. dream job wise (ex: being my own boss, freedom, etc)..yes.
|
In my family more emphasis is put on education. All 3 (my little sister in May) of my siblings...and myself have graduated with a bachelors degree. 2 have gone on to Grad school. Law school is in my future.
I'm a model and webmaster. 2 occupations my family doesn't really care for...except for my cousins and little sister when they show their friends ;) thats always nice. |
soon to be !
|
i think i am.. both moneywise and how i handle things.
I have a fucked up family.. one side has been caught of with their irrelevent issues for most or their life the other side is dead (mostly unnatural causes..). so im doing ok so far. |
Cash wise yes, but my sister has 3 kids lives on a farm and is content.
I can't stop always moving forward and am never conent. So I will never reach success actually. Kind of sad but I'M O.K. WITH IT. |

My brother is a major exec at one of the world's biggest corporations. So, no.
|
No i'm not.
|
Hell no. All of my Aunts/Uncles/Cousins are multimillionaires who own businesses/real estate and come from old money. But out of my immediate family, I am. I also help my mom out every month with her bills, which is something that I can proudly say this industry helps me do.
|
No, my father in law is really really really rich and successful.
|
Depends what you call successful.
Success isnt just a number in the Net column. |
My douche bag Uncle makes around two mil a year from his investment firm. He cheated on my aunt for years so he got nailed for almost 4 mil in his divorce. I don't mind that he makes more than me becuase he is a miserable, cheap, asswipe.
|
Nope, not yet. But they all know I'll be ;)
|
If by 'successful' you mean I look at the most amount of porn on a daily basis.. then yes i am the most successful!
Eh, also most successful by any other measure too, I only keep working cause it's fun |
i'll say this, I earn the most $$ per year than my mom, dad, bro and sis. It's actually quite strange since i had the worst scholastic record of them all. I barely showed up to highschool and junior college bored the hell outta me. It was basically a result of having no clue about what i wanted out of life.
Once i got my shit together, however, it all turned around. I think they are as shocked as I am... |
that's what I intend to be
|
i would say i am the most ambisous

excellent answer and very honest. would say out of my family financially I am now, though my dad has better credit, but I soon will take care of that. Personally I was say my dad is as he is stable and living in retirement with the one he loves, my sister who has been with the same man happily married for 25 years. This is my second marriage but I am working on getting a farm myself and after being with my current partner for 4 years I look forward to success in that as well. |
Good to read peoples answers. Always nice to see people commenting on their role with helping their families / parents etc.
|
I'm the oldest, so yes. It plays little role in my drive though. My personal circumstances are completely different from my brothers. One of my brothers is a freshman in college, he wants to be a lawyer, I'm sure he'll do very well for himself. My other brother is a Jr. in high school. I think he's pretty confused as to what he wants to do with his career, but I would actually like to bring him in under my wing and have him work for me. We'll see how that goes in a few years.
|
its pretty equal

Success is a subjective thing - depends on how you look at it. And my definition of success changes from time to time. These days I'd say:
More successful than my parents - no. Both reached the top of their respective fields before they retired with a nice financial nestegg for themselves. Kudos to them...they earned every bit of their well-deserved retirement comfort. More successful than my sister - easily. She hasn't held a job since the early 90s and her goal in life is to swing from one brass ring marital relationship to the next. We've been incommunicato for the past decade - suits me just fine. |
I can say yes. I am the yougest and I can say I am way far more successful than my three elder sisters. I was fresh out of college when I started working and was yougest junior VP of the company.
|
Yes I would say I am.
|
I think I am not. My brothers and sisters are just as ambitious as I am and I think most of them are more successful than me..
