This is absolutely unreal. I'm taking all I have to a local coin dealer to consign. Is there something bad going on with the economy this last week that is not being made public? I have never seen a rise in gold prices like this before.

I'm not, it has always been a good hedge on our portfolio.

Spot has gone up $100 a ounce in 6 months. Don't you think it's time to sell and reinvest the money in something more stable?

Why would you want to pull your money and invest in something more "stable"? The point of investing is to earn a greater return on your money; otherwise, you would put your money in a flat low-rate savings account. There will always be fluctuation in the market, but if you look at the recent trends they more closely resemble a rise in inflation rather than volitility. Prices on precious metals are up all across the board (Platinum and Silver have risen at similar percentages). The reason to invest in Precious Metals is not to flip it for a quick buck, but rather the knowledge that your initial investment is relatively safe and that there will always be a buyer should you need to pull your money out. :2 cents:
