Any bad experience with PayPal??

I heard that many people had bad experience with PayPal.

Is there more of you?

Have you got any sugestions or better expierience with other billing company.

I won an auction on eBay for a digital camera less than a year ago and paid the guy through PayPal. The next thing I know - he was no longer an eBay member - and the same through PayPal.

Now, PayPal guarantees payment if the person has a verified address. Well, his address was 'verified' when I sent the funds, but after I realized that I just got butt-fucked, his address status on PayPal became 'unverified' - I didn't get a penny from either place. :feels-hot

I paid $870 for a digital camera I never received. I have a feeling that someone, somewhere, got screwed - and I think that person was me.

I've never heard of all this happening to someone before, but I guess you live and learn.

PayPal is still one of the biggest and best sites that do what they do, but it isn't perfect. eBay on the other hand - I'm sure that people get beefed there on a daily basis.

I heard that they just say they do not like what you do and freeze money.

I do not know if it true but it worries me , because we do our bussines only through them.

They have been known to arbitrarily freeze accounts and if you get on their bad side, you're pretty well fucked.

I've used them for a long time with no problems however.

From what I have heard, so does Visa or any bank. It doesnt matter, when there is an error and someone is in control they can handle the issue however they see fit, in most cases with Paypal, they freeze your money, but again, so do banks.

They are great until you have a problem I never have had one yet but there are plenty of cases, web sites and a few law suits at the moment with people who have.

PayPal do have a nasty habit, which they acknowledge, of freezing peoples accounts as soon as something they dont like happens. This does include being paid by someone who is trying to rip them or you off. If PayPal suspects fraud from a person paying you they will freeze your account too until you can prove you are not associated with them. That can take some time - 12 months is not unheard of.

So use them, but dont leave any money in your account and you should be fine. Until they cancel your account and you cant receive funds so its probably a good idea to have a backup in place.

Other than that they are great.

Ignored them Eva. They think with their dingleberries... lmao... just talk to a shrink and they would say short shafted men tend to do that. There was a post for the men to show off THEIR stuff and all that was posted was BS pics stolen from porn pics. So when they ask, tell them to post themselves FIRST... with the local newspaper and date in the pic as well. lmFao

Any time we've had a glitch with paypal it was worked out very quickly and to our satisfaction. They are after all a member of the FDIC and have to adhere to US Federal Banking laws... contrary to what was posted above... they cannot just arbitrarily freeze your account unless it adheres to a Fed Law to be able to do so. If anyone has a serious problem with them, simply contact the FDIC and resolve it through them.

zubr 03-29-2002 03:39 PM

You can only get nailed for selling adult memberships via them.... But many companies such as CE and Gamma do, because you have to contact them first and ask about it... :2 cents:

Vox 03-29-2002 03:50 PM

Paypal is not itself insured by FDIC, the banks they deal with are.

here is part of there statement on fdic:
FDIC pass-through deposit insurance protects you only against the failure of the bank at which PayPal places your funds, and does NOT protect you against PayPal's insolvency. Through the terms of our User Agreement, we believe that your funds will also be protected from any claims of PayPal's creditors and will be returned to you even in the unlikely event of a PayPal insolvency

Checking the FDIC database shown no listing for Paypal.

http://www3.fdic.gov/idasp/

Paypal is not a bank, lending institution, or a credit card company, there is really no law on how they deal with your money.
