Browsers - Netscape Firefox IE - Worth A Look!

Assuming everyone is using Firefox 1.5 by now and can't stand Internet Explorer - Here's a good alternative to checking browser compatibility over IE, Firefox and Netscape from one browser - Just use the current version of Netscape (8.4).

Netscape has all the usual tabbed browsing of Firefox, but... it also has the ability to switch "browser modes" between a "Firefox View" and an "Internet Explorer View" while a page is loaded. They also claim better security over IE (yea?) and many other features.

Handy as a secondary browser!

Info and download is here:

FF also has an "IE Tab". Where you can render websites in IE.

I think it's pretty cool browsers are starting to do this.

Yep... got that potter! I was just running thru the range of browsers for compatibility and noticed Netscape did all this stuff as well - and a lot more - still looking! :winkwink:

I hate opening IE on boxes.. even via Firefox - and Netscape is a way to have an IE view without actually opening IE (It's all contained within the Netscape browser and no need to go near IE).

Thanks mate, I'm downloading this Netscape.. I hope I can delete IE after this :D

:1orglaugh Sure looks like it! NS has ripped off almost all features of FF and got some of their own - but, they are still working on extensions and plugins. Then it will be FF with a different label :-)

I think that "may" cause you some problems if you actually delete IE from the Windows system. Can't remember what problems now - but tried to do this already and came across "something". Just don't use IE!

Been playing with NS for a while now and it does replicate pages same as IE and FF... least I've not come across any problems yet on the IE and FF "browser view".

I got the skins to work, just gotta restart the browser, but yes! it seems nice so far...not sure if its as fast as FF or IE, but looks really similar from what I can tell

You can do the same with firefox... if you think firefox is a memory monster, watch out netscape.

Yea... I think I like this stuff!

It's damned handy having more than one browser - that actually works - and can produce cross-browser views. Good to see the end of all that browser standards crap! :winkwink:

This difference DD is that you don't open IE at any time with NS - they have ripped off all the IE elements as well as those of Firefox and let you view all within NS and without interacting with FF or IE.

The FF plugin does a call to IE and opens the actual IE browser.

Yea... NS is a heavy footprint and sure not as lean as Firefox...
