Video iPod emulator for Windows - Anyone have one?

just convert the files and play them in Itunes, you will get the same result

No, I mean for a video iPod. I have the converter, I need the emulator to test my compression settings.

edit - or are you saying I can watch iPod movies in iTunes?

Ok, I tried it and was succesful in opening and playing the file. In your opinion is this an accurate representation of the iPod screen? When it opens the video is displayed in a small window on the lower left. Is that your experience as well?

but off course if you want to be 100% certain you should go out and buy one and test it like that ;)

Sweet, I appreciate the heads up. After testing the vids in iTunes then having some other people test on the actual devices, eveything seems to be pretty close. Thanks for the heads up and let me know where to send your prize! I'd go buy one but in my area you can barely find a Nano this month...lol

Try iTunes as suggested, it's close enough and renders accurate dimensions.

That brings up an interesting point. I really just wanted to see how it all worked, and imagined that for all the craze surrounding them there would be a nice little emulator out there just as there is for virtually every other portable device on the planet.

playing on itunes/quicktime is no indicator of how it will work on the iPod. ive been making mp4s for years and my standard settings wouldnt work for shit my iPod. i believe it has to do with what profile you are using (ASP, Baseline), but needless to say it took some serious tweaking.
